Resumo: In the context of a European exchange, volunteers are needed to promote European values in a cultural and linguistic exchange program.
Destined to encourage the mobility and the implication of youngsters from 18 to 30 years old, the European Solidarity Corps (ESC) helps to serve a non-profit organization or a public body for general interest.
In this context, the voivodeship in Poland has been welcoming volunteers from European countries for many years.
Initially concentrated in other town, the capacity has now been extended to the neighboring town who is looking for two foreign volunteers to be involved in their kindergartenfor a duration of 6 months.
The mission of the facility is to educate children, show them the world, make them open and tolerant people.
For children of this age, we can not organize trips abroad, but we can make their world bigger, thanks to learning about volunteering, solidarity, cultural differences.
Understanding and loving diversity should start from an early age. Volunteers will be in contact with parents, neighbors but also colleagues to share their culture and learn from the residents who have fewer opportunities for such meetings.
This visible change is needed for the development of the community. It is also an opportunity to learn from each other and contribute to the understanding and collaboration between countries.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
The volunteer should know the specifics of working with children, their needs and
interests.
They must be enthusiastic about sharing their culture and curious about the others but mostly be motivated about be engage in this long-term project in Poland.
See this as a real opportunity to learn and grow on a personal and professional level while promoting European values.
During the program, key competencies will be developed progressively:
•Be able to bring the various topics of interest in a playful way.
•Expertise knowledge and competencies related to pedagogic process and tools
•Soft competencies: cooperation, creative thinking, independence, responsibility, active problem solving, tolerance, patience, pedagogy.
• Personal development, socializatio
Tarefas: The volunteers will work in Kindergarten.
They will have a chance to work with small children aged from 3 to 6 years, make them discover various topics and playing together.
They will have to present cultural specificities of their country like main customs, celebrations or traditional food but also help children and staff to learn traditional songs, the regional anthem or nursery rhymes in their native language.
However, even if the main goal is to be in contact with a foreign culture, building trust and understanding, this project is a good opportunity to encourage children to use every day English or other language in simples interactions. If necessary, an English teacher will help the volunteer to prepare activities for children, give the advice to adapt the format for children’s specificities.
The volunteer will also take part in the day-to-day routine of the kindergarten: attend the meeting's staff, meet with parents, help the teacher organize mealtime, present the core curriculum, go for walks in the neighborhood, take part in preschool trips. We would like the volunteer to take part in all events and celebrations organized in the city and surroundings.
