Resumo: Youth Center of Epirus (YCE) is a non-profit company located in Ioannina, Epirus region of Greece and operating since 2011. The main aims of Youth Center of Epirus are to improve general environment, promote coexistence and to develop the region of Epirus. Therefore, YCE organizes and implements local, regional and international level events and projects created by and for young people. Our activities are related to topics of non-formal education, voluntarism, environment problems, LGBTQ issues, social inclusion, employment of young people, human rights, refugee integration and policies, health and well-being, EU awareness, cultural awareness and others.
Our volunteers and youth workers offer leisure and educational activities to local young adults up to 35 years old. At the youth center, our volunteers implement various courses and workshops, informative events, cultural parties and other happenings for youth and young adults. YCE runs a web channel, organizes several annual actions such as environmental initiatives, regional music festivals, celebrations and informative events.
YCE organizes and participates in international educational projects such as youth exchanges, training courses, seminars and research and capacity building projects mainly under the Erasmus+ programme hence each year giving hundreds of youth and young adults the opportunity of receiving non-formal education. YCE hosts EDIC of Epirus region and is lately more involved with EU topics, EU level issues and informative community events.
Since 2016, our volunteers work at several asylum seeker accommodation centers to ensure a better stay for the children there by providing them with recreational activities, psycho-social monitoring, non-formal education and language education.
Since April 2020, YCE has started running a project which is approved by the Greek Ministry of Migration and Asylum; the project will host 40 underaged asylum seekers and provide them with all necessary care, assistance and education.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: Main activities of the participant will include non-formally educational and recreational work with teenager asylum seekers in an accommodation facility. Additional tasks might include any support for local activities and office needs, as well as initiatives from the participant and daily work on online content creation. Before signing this contract, the volunteer should discuss with the hosting organization in case they want to add any regular activity or project to their weekly schedule and additional non-regular initiatives can be discussed during the integration week and during the whole duration of service.
