Resumo: The hosting organization is a member owned and operated Community Supported Agriculture initiative based in the ecovillage. As a not-for-profit social enterprise the Community Farm aims to promote a healthy food culture and guarantee a secure local food supply, as well as hosting training in resilient food systems and sustainable agriculture. Our farm is set within 67 acres of beautiful land dedicated to ecological housing, woodland and active food production. The ecovillage is home to approximately 55 households along with a hostel and a number of non-profit educational enterprises such as Cultivate, Sustainable Projects Ireland, FEASTA and the RED gardens.
The hosting organization provides produce all year round to 60 families in the area and is run on organic and bio-dynamic principles. In association with locally based national NGO's we offer a number of hands-on courses throughout the year in subjects around food production and storage, seed saving, nutritional resilience, permaculture, adding value to agricultural produce and training events for those interested in setting up and maintaining the organization initiatives. We also have links with the local primary schools who make regular visits to the farm. We offer our volunteers the possibility of being involved in all of the above.
