Resumo: The Youth Center is a community space and youth node in the town that functions as a meeting place for young people and increasingly for the whole community. The story of Youth Center dates back in 2008, when the need for a common youth space was articulated at one of the round tables organized by Student’s Association. A petition for the founding of such space followed and a vision plan for it was written by young activists of Students’ Association and local Scouts’ Association.
After years of negotiations with local government, a 300 m2 in the old monastery were given into use to young local people in 2012. Youth center was thus formed as an umbrella organization by 3 local NGO. Youth volunteers renovated the spaces and furnished it with second-hand and DIY furniture, donated by inhabitants and businesses. In 2015, additional 40 m2 were acquired to host youth-led makers’ and hackers’ space.Today the aim of the community youth space is to encourage public participation of youth in decision-making processes, structured dialogue, youth mobility and volunteering, informal education, social inclusion and inter-cultural dialogue, creative and active free time …Several activities inhabit the space:
Education and personal growth- Entrepreneurial club and course for high school pupils - Career orientation workshops and seminars - Robotics course - Programming course - Word, Excel, Power Point, Adobe workshops - Language courses (Russian, German, Italian …) - Travelogue lectures Sport activities:- Sports tournaments - Aerobics and dance classes
Music activities:- Youth choir meetings- Public acoustic concerts
International activities:- Youth exchanges- Urbanistic workshops
Meetings:- Students’ Association- Scouts' Association, - Association for youth development 2020- Climbing association- Magic-the-Gathering weekly meetings- lace-aficionados and lace-makers
Other:- Season-related events (Santa Claus visit for local children, making Halloween masks, gift-wrapping workshops…)- Humanitarian activities (collecting clothes and food for refugees, collecting toys for under-privileged children, blood-donating …)- Birthday celebrations for children- Daily center for children with less opportunities – social care programmeIn broad terms, main visitors of the youth center are young people (15 - 30 y.o.).

The project aims to extend and upgrade the activities of the youth center with the focus on its community activities, sociable activities for international visitors in our youth hostel, connecting with other local organizations and informing local youngsters about the possibilities to get involved in solidarity activities at home and abroad.
The project will include 2 international volunteers who will work together.

Perfil: We are looking for motivated candidates who like to work in teams and are passionate about meeting and working with local (young) people and are interested in promoting solidarity opportunities and organizing youth activities for the foreign visitors of Idrija. Background is not relevant, age is from 18 to 30. The working language will be English (or Slovene), so you should be able to communicate in any of these

Tarefas: Connecting organizations in the local community
- visiting various local organizations in the local environment (become a scout, a teacher, a youth worker, a humanitarian worker, firefighter and alpine guide for a day) and participating in their activities
- making interviews with their (young) volunteers/representatives

Community projects
- traveling with our youth workers to the center of the town and its surrounding areas with the MC mobil van (pop up playground for street youth work)
- cooperating in designing activities and tools according to your interests
- working with youngsters of different backgrounds and those with fewer possibilities
- organizing and preparing summer events at the MCI terrace
- interacting with the locals, residents and visitors in an engaging way

Activities in the Youth Hostel
- developing socializing activities for the young visitors of the hostel (movie nights, international evening, guided visits hidden gems, language cafés)
- developing inventive ways of discovering the tpwn and its surroundings
- writing about living in the town
- meeting guests and showing them around the local spots

Informing and promoting opportunities for solidarity actions
- creating a map of local organizations and initiatives that local youngsters can join
- presenting (young) representatives and reasons why they are involved in their organizations
- promoting international projects, such as the ESC and E+ projects
- bringing forward the intercultural component in all the other activities
Get involved in the following activities, according to your interest:
- participating in the promotional activities (social media, designing posters, take pictures of events etc.)
- helping out at the hostel
- taking on some technical tasks around the house
- organizing workshops for local youngsters
- organizing open events such as country presentations or language café's
- visiting schools and promoting Erasmus+ program, your country
- delivering workshops about culture, human rights, youth opportunities, volunteering
- initiating your own project.
