Resumo: The After-School-Clubs are based on the premises of the primary schools. They open at 11 o'clock. The children go there after class and get a warm lunch. Afterwards they do their homework and participate in different workshops such as music, theatre, gardening, sports...

Perfil: • 18-28 years
• basic German knowledge is helpful
• interest in working with children
• if possible experiences with children- or youth work
• German knowledge
• The volunteer should stay for one year
• Youth with fewer opportunities after individual requests

Tarefas: Help in the workshops run for the children (later on give own workshops depending on the volunteers interests), help during lunch, looking after the children, help with homework, help running the holiday programme, it really depends on the volunteers interests.

Horário: The volunteer will work from Monday till Friday from 11- 16.00. In the evening she or he will attend German classes (twice a week).

Condições: The volunteers and sending organsiations get all important information so that they do not come here with wrong expectations. We can also arrange a prep visit. We make reports and pictures from previous volunteers available. They also shall get in contact with other volunteers who are already in this project (phone or eMail).We make sure that the volunteers feel comfortable , that rooms are clean and in order etc. We give them a list with phone numbers of the tutors and a plan for the first week. The volunteers have different tutorsfor different circumstances: The guiding person in the project as well as a person at the same age as a contact person for leisure time and coordination of the project and also the german teacher. Alongside the volunteers have contact to the sending organsisation. They take part at all seminars that the german national agency provides and there they will meet staff of the german national agency.

Formação: The volunteers support the work in the clubs mostly in child care. Hereby they enriched the team a lot by bringing in their ideas, perspectives and little projects. Especially for children and parents with migration background they have often been an important contact person. The children become acquainted with different cultures, ways of thinking and can get to know a new language. Members of staff, parents, teachers and children gain European awareness. The children have an additional adult to play with and to share their stories with. The volunteers get to know the German School-System, by working closely with the families and in the community they get a good insight in the daily life in a big city in Germany. Like this it has always been a mutual enrichment and learning from one another, which motivates us to continue hosting EVS- volunteers.
We would like to host volunteers with special needs during our summerschool programme. In addition we like to host volunteers for one school year.
