Resumo: Project takes place in a youth centre operating in a small village in north Estonia called Haljala. Tasks of the volunteer will be to organise different activities for and with youth visiting the centre.

Perfil: Volunteer should have good communication skills, s/he should want to work with young people and to be ready to work in a small community. We would like to receive volunteer, who is friendly, good communicator, honest, helpful, active and should have some basic knowledge of English. She/he should be interested of working with children and youth. We are ready to host both - female and male volunteers and age is not important, nevertheless we see that person who is coming to volunteer in our project is mature. Also we wait from the volunteer some pro-activity, initiative and creativity to come up with new ideas and suggestions. A capacity of improvisation, dynamism, sense of responsibility to work with children and youngsters will be take in count person who like to play games and do leisure activities (dance, singing, instrument, photography, cooking, sport, acting) so he /she could support the youngsters.

Tarefas: Future volunteer will have the opportunity to work with young people who live in a rural area and come from different social background. We include the volunteer into our daily activities which enable him/her to organise different workshops with the youth workers of the centre, also to become a participant in trainings in which our own youth workers participate. As the volunteer will work closely with local children she/he is in a very good position in finding out what the children long for and thus initiate her/his own project ideas. She/he is also welcome to cooperate with other institutions in Haljala parish. Through his/her service volunteer will become more familiar with the social and cultural background of Haljala community. The volunteer will act as an ambassador in the community connecting the institutions and developing activities.
Main role of the volunteer will be assisting local youth worker and youth center's manager in their daily activities and support the Culture House and Kindergarten. In the youth center the volunteer will contribute to the drawing, table games, social theatre and handy craft workshops. Youth Center is also used by local Youth Council whose activities the future volunteer can participate.
The association is the organizer for major events in the parish where the international volunteer's insight and his/her cultural background will be a great asset in organizing new events which will enliven the community life. The organization has various after school activities - guitar and drum lessons, folk dance workshops, singing lessons - in which the volunteer can use his/her creative skills. Volunteer is also invited to give language and culture lessons at Haljala Gymnasium. In Haljala Kindergarten the volunteer can contribute to sports and handicraft workshops.
The volunteer will work 7 hours per day and the schedule will depend of the activities in the Youth Center and in other institutions.

Horário: This is a practical example of the volunteer weekly schedule:
Monday: Morning in Kindergarten assisting the teachers; afternoon in Youth Cente with craft classes (glass, knitting, wood and metal)
Tuesday: Morning in school with the free-time activities for students and presentations; afternoon in Youth Center in computer classes or language lesson.
Wednesday: Morning in kindergarten playing with the children and assisting the teacher in the daily activities; afternoon in the Youth Center in the art classes with drawing and painting.
Thursday: Morning in school to help homework school in the afternoon in the Youth Center with cooking lessons and table games.
Friday: Support the Cultural House in the organisation of local events in Folk Dance or Band contests
Saturday and Sunday: Free

Condições: Volunteer will work next to hosting organization members, which helps to solve problems fast when they rise. The association is responsible for ensuring a safe living and working environment for the volunteers. They will be supported by a mentor, which will help them where necessary, explaining all their questions or doubts and helping in all its difficulties, which is a young person that knows the community very well and is very willing to support the volunteer. Haljala Noortekeskus workers are professional youth workers who had training in work with different background young people and are able to adjust the situation and the competences of the volunteer to be an add value in the project.

Formação: The association together with the partners, also can provide adequate training for volunteers, either on the institution, or on the community and the region where intervenes, focusing on prevention of certain risks that may exist. Each volunteer will have an Estonian phone card to contact the mentor and the organisation any time they need in any emergency.
For youngsters with fewer opportunities we are open to receive APV to aware our partner for risk management in order to set a clear strategy to prevent it, and the APV will be an important tool in this issue.
