Resumo: The Association is looking for 4 international volunteers to help save endangered bird populations and raise awareness about nature conservation among Croatian community. This dynamic opportunity is based in several Croatian protected areas and will provide a unique chance to explore hidden landscapes during ornithological fieldwork, learn about public education and awareness-raising, and build solidarity between people and nature while contributing to a number of crucial conservation projects.

The ESC project aims to strengthen communities within Croatia to promote nature conservation and engage young people in practical experiences of nature conservation. During the project, volunteers will be split up and will spend time in the following locations:
• Nature Park Lastovo Islands. Volunteers will assist with the LIFE Artina seabird conservation project. Activities include monitoring of seabird colonies, satellite tracking, boat-based surveys, and invasive mammal eradication.

• Biom Office in Zagreb. The volunteers will be engaged in educational and public events, such as bird watching tours and workshops for children. They will help with planning activities for public engagement and encouraging the local community to take action to protect biodiversity. They will also assist with fieldwork and office tasks. Here, they will be given the opportunity to explore and experience cultural life of Croatia’s capital city.

• Učka Nature Park. The volunteers will be based in the beautiful and remote Učka Nature Park assisting with the running of the Rovozna Ornithological Camp. They will be able to participate in bird ringing activities, as well as share their passion for nature protection with the international participants of the camp. It will also involve volunteer coordination, habitat restoration activities and camp logistics.

• Beli Visitor Centre and Rescue Centre for Griffon Vultures, Cres. The island of Cres holds the last breeding population of endangered Griffon Vultures (Gyps fulvus) in Croatia. Here, the volunteers will be involved in vulture nest monitoring, vulture rescue and aftercare operations, and public/tourist engagement and educational activities.
