Resumo: The hosting organization was established in 1979, right now we have 165 places for kids from 1 years old till 7 years old. Since 2009 we have chosen the direction of Catholic education Director Irena Padkauskienė has headed
nursery since 1987. In our nursery there works 21 educators, 20 service staff and 4 administrative staff.
Our aim is to provide a safe, happy and stimulating environment, in which children can learn through games and enhance their social, emotional, physical and intellectual development.

Each child should be valuated and respected as an individual and have their needs met. They should have the opportunity to develop to his or her full potential. We recognise the wide ranging needs of children and their families, we believe that all children have a right to grow up and learn in a friendly environment.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

The volunteers we would like to receive should be interested in working with children and teachers. The volunteers should be responsible, interested in cooperation, open-minded.
Having previous international volunteering and working with kids experience would be an advantage. Volunteers must have at least basic English or Russian language skills so we can communicate on a basic level.
During the volunteer selection the emphasis is put on volunteer’s motivation to conduct voluntary service in Lithuania, in particular within the theme of children activities. Volunteers’ willingness to work with kids and to cooperate with teachers are key. We also encourage creativity, initiative, interest in learning and personal development. The nationality and age of the Volunteer is not our main focus.

Tarefas: During the project time volunteers will be involved in to every day educational process, will get the opportunity to study Lithuanian language, traditional kids games, dances, songs and activities.

Volunteers will present sample activities (games, songs, etc.) related to his/her home country. They will help the children during classes, will take part in the basketball, theater and art activities.

Volunteers will perform specific tasks with the kids, with the kindergarten staff. Volunteers will fill labour bulletin about new things which they have learned. The main aim of the volunteers is helping with the education and caretaking activities for the children as well as with everyday duties.

Another aim of the project is to spread the ideas of non-formal education among the local people as well as spread the ideas of tolerance and responsibility for another human being. The staff will care and will support the volunteers. Volunteers will organize special meetings during which they will share their experience and various observations related to the project. During the project, we emphasize the international aspect of our actions by being fully aware of the richness that is represented by every volunteer.

The main task of the volunteers during the project is to support the children in their everyday duties giving them individual help , for instance, helping with getting dressed. Enough time will be allowed for volunteers to realize projects they will initiate with members of the local community.
In addition to social and personal development, volunteer will gain a lot of knowledge and will develop hands-on skills of work in the kindergarten.
