Resumo: The popular education movement was created in France by the Resistance during the Second World War. After the atrocities of Fascism and Nazism, a lot of French people came together to prevent these horrors to start again. The French government played a major role in the creation of MJC in 1948. That’s the reason why MJC are autonomous local associations, while maintaining strong relationships with public authorities in a co-managing working system.
As part of the popular education movement, the aim at the creation of MJC was to provide learning spaces of citizenship where young people could recognize theirs attitudes, develop their personality and prepare to become active and responsible citizens.

Our organization works with people living in shantytowns, emergency housing and in suburbs. A large part of our public is children participating by themselves or with their parents. We work with children of all ages, with educational and health projects. Our activities take place outdoors, in the natural environment of kids and adults. We propose children to express themselves with all types of art: writing, dancing, singing, etc.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
We look for a dynamic and tonic volunteer with great curiosity for other cultures and different ways of living

Tarefas: The volunteer will join our team of 6 social pedagogues. We also work with a young volunteer from our area and other volunteers involved in the association (families, retired or unemployed persons, etc.) He/she will be charged to propose and realize activities like cooking workshops, looking for children and everything is necessary to prepare the workshops he/she will participate: materials, cleaning and briefing. If the volunteer is a musician, he/she could join our group of singers and dancers.

Condições: The volunteer will be hosted in a private room with commodities. More details will be provided during the recruitment process.
