Resumo: The hosting organization is partly run by a staff of permanent employees and by a staff of Danish and foreign volunteers. Therefore, volunteers at Houens Odde Spejdercenter will be a part of the staff mixed between a permanent staff and Danish/foreign volunteers. This staff takes care of the daily work at the centre.

The centre also has a staff off around 120 Danish voluntary scouts from all scout organizations in Denmark. The staff, called Houmen, is taking care of the scout events that take place at the centre during the year: scout summer camps, work camps, different scout events for scouts in all ages. These events take place during weekends or vacation time.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: The work at the centre is coordinated in a cooperation between the EVS coordinator and the janitor at the centre and the volunteers. Once a week there is a staff meeting, where the last week is evaluated and the present week is planned. As a volunteer, you participate in all planning meetings together with the permanent staff. The jobs are planned twice a week ahead on the volunteer planning meetings, and then discussed on the day in the morning and again at lunchtime. You solve the jobs in different teams, that can change day by day. Your first 2 weeks at the centre are planned so, that you get the chance to work with all sections and people of the permanent staff. This is done so that you get a good introduction to both the different tasks at the centre but also so that you get the chance to meet and know everybody that works at the centre.
After the first 2 weeks, you will get some job tasks that will be their responsibility.
The jobs at the centre are divided into:
- Daily jobs
- Monthly jobs
- Ad hoc jobs
- Volunteer project

Example of jobs:
The daily jobs need to be done every day, and they can be:
- garbage round
- toilet check and cleaning
- buying food for the office canteen
- grass cutting
- kitchen duties
The monthly jobs need to be done, depending on the season, once or twice a month. They can be:
- building checks
- checking and cleaning tractors/cars
- cleaning different workshops
The ad hoc jobs are very different. They come day by day, hour by hour. Some can be planned in advance,
others are not possible to plan. They can be:
- doing activities for our customers (scouts, school groups, kinder gardens, companies)
- helping janitor with different maintenance job at the centre
- putting up tents for costumers
- participating as a staff member in our scout summer camps or other scout events
- participating in different volunteer arrangements together with our Danish scout volunteers

The Volunteer Project
The volunteers also have the possibility of making their own project. This is very good chance for the
volunteers to make something, that reflects their interest and skills. The project must be for the use and
fun of the costumers at the centre. We prefer that the project will be for the benefit of nature and
environment of our centre. The project must also make our costumers aware of the Erasmus+ programme
and the international outlet of the centre. It is important for us that the volunteers spend time on creating
a project and thereby leaving their footprints at the organization!
