Resumo: The organization hosts 3 European volunteers. Each volunteer will be integrated in the activities carried out in the Municipality of Ribadavia, in the Youth Centre where is located the Youth Information Centre. The purpose for our volunteers is to give young people, in our organization and in the region, a better European awareness. We wish to widen young people acceptance and understanding of different cultures. With a volunteer present it helps spreading the knowledge about European Youth in Action Programme and its various actions.
Perfil: The selection process will be done according to the following criteria:
Age of volunteers: our preference is for older volunteers , since they have less opportunities (around 30 years old).
The adaptability to live in a rural environment, as is the region of the Ribeiro.
Ability to work in a team.
Capacity to be relate to young people, since our project is based on Youth Policies. Volunteers will often be in contact with young people of Ribeiro.
Interest in other cultures, in our case this is very important, since Galicia has deeply rooted culture and traditions.
Ease to travel, in our project we carry out several mobility programmes every year.
Organisation: offering guarantee of a serious work and a positive attitude to cooperate with us, so that our common work is easier and we manage an EVS under optimal conditions.
Tarefas: The volunteers receive information about the work of the Youth Information Centre, particularly in the field of youth information on the local, regional, national and international level. They will create a bulletin of the Youth Information Centre which contains all the information about upcoming events. They will collaborate with Ribadavia Youth Forum, supporting organizations of local activities and coordinating the development of Info Juventud Ribadavia: an internet group (Google group) created by OMIX especially for young people from the O Ribeiro region. Furthermore Iveta and Santa have the opportunity to cooperate in local events that take place in Ribadavia during the year, like Festa Da Istoria (Medieval festival), Noite Meiga (Halloween night) or Arteficial Festival.
The volunteers, together with the staff, will compile a file with information for young people from local associations and with a news summary (leisure, education, employment, emancipation, grants,...). This file will be published as a bulletin every week through a group of young people we have created (google group). The volunteer will also help in the organisation and implementation of campaigns for change at the OMIX. Participation time: Mondays and Wednesdays, from 09:30 to 14:30; Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, from 16:00 a 21:00 h. Language training: 3 times a week (course at the Youth House of Ribadavia). During the first week, the volunteer will receive a tour of the city and the region, so that they can begin to discover the local culture and the most emblematic sites. During their stay, the volunteer will have the opportunity to attend courses organised and funded by the City council, as well as trips organised by local organizations. During their stay the volunteers will have the support from a mentor, who will help volunteers in their tasks and personal life. As the region of Galicia is rich in traditions and history, several trips and visits to different sites, will be organised in the most significant dates.
The tasks of the volunteer are of support to the professionals who work full-time in the OMIX, as well as of cultural activities, like in the guided tours of the city of Ribadavia.

Condições: The Youth Centre of Ribadavia can host volunteers with less opportunities. By this we mean people coming from underprivileged cultural, geographic and/or socio-economic backgrounds. We are specially aware about dealing with people with fewer opportunities. Our office counts on a coordinator trained in this field who can assist them as needed.
As a public organisation complies with all the health and safety regulations to provide safe environment for the volunteer and of the supervision, security and protection of children if the volunteer was between 16 and 17 years old.
Formação: The hosting project will take place in the rural region of O Ribeiro, where people are not accustomed to living cultural experiences, as might be the case in cities. Nevertheless, the immigrating trend in Spain is also reaching small towns. We believe that education of communities for a better understanding of cultural diversity is essential for the development of societies showing solidarity, where contact with other cultures is understood as a chance for growth and enrichment, not as a danger.
The presence of European volunteers in the Ribeiro since 2002, is a very effective factor against ethnocentric attitudes, fear towards other cultures, which are often the cause of social conflicts that make communities being multicultural and not intercultural.
As coordinating organisation we assume the responsibility of keeping in direct contact (via e-mail, fax, and other urgent communication systems like telephone, fax, Messenger, etc.) with all working groups in EVS projects (volunteers, responsible people and/or contact people of sending organisations and organisations working regularly with us). We will ensure that the volunteers have secure and appropriate living and working conditions during their activity period, living in a place according to their age and taste: flat shared by volunteers; participation in dynamic activities for young people: leisure activities, camps, language classes. They will count with the close presence of qualified people in tasks which may be difficult, and a group of professionals of similar age who, apart from their mentor, will be guides who will help them to integrate in the new Spanish culture. They will be directly supported and receive individual, certified training to carry out their tasks, they will have a mentor for the whole period, from recruitment to the return to the country of origin and the end of the project.
We are responsible for the administrative management and coordination of the project with all members; we will pay corresponding grant amounts by bank deposits in the accounts of the partners; we will keep accountancy with all the costs of the project which any partner may look at during the project and years after it, as established in the Guide and EVS regulations.
The management of the costs will be done by the responsible of the project and the Administrative service of our organisation, who will formally inform in three moments of the project: reception of grant, sending of corresponding amounts to partners (travelling costs and sending activity costs); intermediate evaluation, as established by the Programme for long term activities; and, at the end of the project, with a copy of the separate costs included in the final report.
