Resumo: The project pursues three objectives: developing the local community so as solidarity as a value (especially among young people), raising awareness and promoting international volunteering aimed at people with fewer opportunities, and increasing the competences of the European Solidarity Corps volunteers.

The organization has been hosting EVS volunteers since 2006 and their presence is positively perceived and appreciated by our clients and also by partners. Work of volunteers is based on regular contact with young people and children through educational programs for schools, leisure time activities and hobby clubs, clubs for unorganized youth, events for the public, etc. We aim to support community life and change of mood in society about foreigners living in our country. We believe that the contact not only young people establish with foreign volunteers expands their horizons, strengthens awareness of European belonging and leads to intercultural understanding. It contributes to the elimination of racism and xenophobia in the local community. We want to highlight volunteering and selfless help to others as an important personal and social value. At the same time, the presence of a foreign volunteer is an example of mobility as a natural part of EU policy.

Given that this is a new program (at least in title), we want to focus on its greater promotion and intensify cooperation with other Brno organizations, especially those working with young people with fewer opportunities, with different types of disadvantages in order to to take part in the program and get this unique experience.

Perfil: Age: 18-30
Regarding the volunteers' profile, we are especially interested in young people strongly motivated for the project they apply for. In the case of Šiška and Lata, where is a sensitive group of pre-school children, we ensure that those interested in volunteering have a really positive relationship with such small children and want to work with them. Education or practice in this area, language skills are not decisive for us. What is important for us is the motivation of the volunteer and the enthusiasm for the joint project and activities. Given the direct work with children and youth, the volunteer should have a positive attitude towards people, a willingness to do such work and a sense of responsibility.

We also expect their own initiative to prepare activities for young people. In this sense, we also ask applicants to include in their letter of motivation their motivation to participate in our project, in a specific activity, their expectations and ideas how can our project benefits them. We will therefore select volunteers who are motivated to work in a specific activity, are related to the area and those who we believe can benefit from the project. The volunteer activity plan is designed to both meet the project's objectives and allow volunteers to realize themselves on the basis of their educational plan, objectives and needs.

We always try to have as diverse a group of volunteers as possible in terms of cultural background, age and experience so that they can enrich each other. We also strive for gender balance. The volunteers we plan to involve in the project are young people, some with little or zero work experience and what they expect from the project is to learn about a new culture, learn a new language, acquire new skills and work experience, work with people and hence gaining more confidence and feeling of independence while living in a foreign country.
