Resumo: The main activity of the shelter is the recovery of wild animals saved from vivisection labs and wild animals injured by hunters or other human activities. The shelter has been providing refuge and animal care since 1980. At the moment it gives hospitality to about 400 animals, belonging to several species of mammalians, birds and reptiles.

Among mammalians, there are several monkeys species, deers, alpacas, lamas, raccoons and lynxes. Among birds, there are pelicans, parrots, cranes and several species of birds of prey. The shelter acts as a rescue and recovery center for local fauna. In this line, their main goal is to release those animals in the wild. The shelter is also specialized is exotic animals: it’s a sanctuary for more than 100 primates from different species.

- Ready to perform physical, repetitive tasks
- Ready to live in an intercultural context in a rural area, where the closest town with facilities is at 30 minutes on foot
- Studies and experience in the field of biology/ethology/animal keeping are not necessary but highly appreciated
Age: 18-30

Tarefas: - Preparation and delivery of food
- Observations of animals and recording of relevant information
- Cleaning animal areas
- Maintenance and adjustment of existing enrichment programs

Horário: Volunteers will work 35 hours a week with two consecutive free days per week (not always Saturday and Sunday).

Condições: Food and accommodation will be covered by the European Commission; volunteers will have a health insurance, travel reimbursement (up until 275 € until 1999 km distance, up to 360 € for more), pocket money (5 euro per day) and an Italian language course.

The two volunteers will be accommodated in a house located at 10 minutes walking distance from the shelter, on a wonderful hill covered by olive trees. They can cook their own meals. Volunteers will share a double bedroom. The house has living room/kitchen, one double bedroom, one toilet with shower, wi-fi, washing machine.

The Park is located in a very rural area where the closest village is at about 30 minutes walking. There, volunteers can find facilities, grocery shop and public transport to reach other cities and attractions in Italy. Volunteers won’t need transport to reach their working place. The volunteers’ house is close to the houses of other workers of the shelter and the volunteers will have a car that they can use in their free time.
