Resumo: Volunteers will mainly participate in activities in the Youth House, but also in related institutions in Alcobendas. This gives us the opportunity of giving organistions and youth collectives and individuals first hand information and a living model of the virtues of such a training and vital experience as this one. Volunteers will, therefore, integrate in the day-to-day activities of the Youth House to collaborate in the promotion, diffusion and organisation of activities, directed mainly to youth.

Perfil: Age: between 18 and 30 years; legal residence in a country participating in the programme. We prefer volunteers aged between 18 and 25, as our experience has told us that older volunteers tend to leave the project earlier for having several open action plans (masters, work,…).
Profile: volunteers supported and trained by the sending organisation and involved, from the first moment, in the process of search and preparation of the project. They must show motivation and enthusiasm to participate in a European voluntary project, interest of carrying it out in Spain and wish to discover and learn from our culture. Experience and skills to work with young people; people with an open character, as work will continuously done with youth, and people who like to carry out activities with other youth, are participative, dynamic and have initiatives. Basic Spanish skills, to make the relation with other youth easier during the first months, are convenient.

Tarefas: Beyond the specific activities the EVS volunteers carry out, detailed below; their presence in our activities are an intercultural and motivating message for the young people of our city. When the local youth is in contact with the international volunteers, they learn that international activities such as the EVS are possible and worth participating in. Thus the participation of international volunteers in local activities has motivated local youth to participate in international activities and as EVS volunteers.
In this EI we are requested to explain the service and learning opportunities we can offer the EVS volunteers. For us, after 13 years hosting volunteers, the matter should be considered in opposite terms: what is the contribution of the volunteers to make this a unique experience to learn and experience personal development? The Youth Area supplies the volunteers with a large range of possibilities of action and contacts with young people and associations. An example is the co-management of projects with local youth associations. In these programmes, the local youth in organisations carry out projects with the technical and financial support of the municipality. This is how the consultant's offices of Nature and European Mobility, the programmes of alternative leisure or a good number of youth clubs are carried out. In them, EVS volunteers can participate together with local youth. Nevertheless, our experience has shown us that only some EVS volunteers have the motivation and the interest to go beyond their "duties" as volunteers. This "limited motivation" hinders in fact the learning opportunities and personal development of the international volunteers during their EVS. For that reason, we think that motivation for the project is the most important thing.
Volunteers have in Alcobendas, all their needs covered. They participate directly in the Folk's University, in the language course in the programme.

Volunteer's activities in the Youth Area:
" Support the activities of the Ciber, a learning and meeting place. It is managed by the young people of an organisation. Young people can suggest and carry out any activity, together with the project entertainer. It has computers, network games and table games. This project is working since October, 2004, has 8 multimedia computers with access to the Internet. The activities are suggested by the young people: sport, cultural, music activities,... anything is possible here.
" Support to the European Mobility Programme for young people. One of the hosted volunteers in Imagina, with the programme manager and the youth technician, supports the development of activities that favour the participation of local young people in European projects. With this aim, the volunteer participates in carrying out activities, diffusion of projects and programmes, as well as in the search of partners. In this project we plan seminars, exchanges, diffusion activities, hosting and sending volunteers, international work-camps and the Leonardo project.
" Support at the Centro de Acogida al Refugiado (Refugee Hosting Centre) of Alcobendas. Support accompaniment, information, counselling and entertainment tasks with children and young refugees at the centre, carrying out awareness tasks about refugees in secondary schools and at the Youth Centre. This project has been done in collaboration with the centre's staff and hosted volunteers during the past years.
" Support the Night Leisure Programme. Volunteers participate in the team formed by: 1 project coordinator, 1 youth technician and leaders. They support entertainment tasks, participate in suggestion stage, planning, dissemination and implementation of healthy, fun night leisure "Imagine Your Night", taking place 40 Saturdays a year for young local people aged between 16 and 30 years. They can also participate in "You are the Night of Imagina", where young people suggest activities for the programme.
Finally, as coordinating organisation, we commit to ensure the fulfilment of the EVS Charter, carrying out the tasks described in it, as well as fulfilling the aims and objectives of the Programme during our activity and not only in periods in which we carry out the projects.

Horário: European mobility project: Monday and Wednesday, from 4 to 9 pm and Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 10 am to 3 pm.
Project "Imagina tu noche": Tuesday, from 4 to 9 pm; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 3 pm; Saturday, from 8 pm to 1 am.
Cyber project: From Monday to Friday, from 4 to 9 pm

Project CAR: Monday, Wednesday, from 10 am to 3 pm; Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, from 3 to 8 pm.

Condições: Volunteers are provided with the needed information regarding risks because they participate in evacuation practices and through information brochures given by the organisation. They can participate in training sessions and meetings.
Regarding more specific crisis situations of volunteers, we are in constant contact with the sending organisation in order to obtain information about the volunteer, not only during recruitment, but also during the project, so difficult situations may be prevented.
In a meeting, at arrival, we explain all volunteers the most important aspects of the project, like housing conditions, relation with flat mates, need of keeping fluid communication with owners,... so that co-existence conflicts may be prevented.
They receive all needed information regarding: medical assistance, insurance, health centres and ways of contacting their mentor in case of an emergency, giving them all needed phone numbers. They are informed about specific services, like the Youth Consultancy or the sexual diversity counselling office.
These first meetings form part of the hosting plan, during the first month, in which the organisation establishes several meeting points and organises integration activities in the community, so volunteers feel sure and may overcome difficult situations.
We favour the integration of volunteers in our working dynamics. They participate in the team meetings and we try to get close to them with the aim of providing a nice, friendly environment which strengthens trust relationships.
The mentor is also important: he is available at any time for volunteers and can support them in difficult situations. The Mentor needs to know the needed contacts of the organisation in order to communicate specific situations as quickly as possible.
Tasks and commitments, attendance to training meetings (at arrival and intermediate), need of informing of outings, holidays,...; justification of absences to the project, assistance to monitoring meetings, responsible use of material, need of respecting legality and acceptance of rules of the organisation.
All volunteers have the AXA insurance.
