Resumo: Volunteers will work on an education programme and through sport and outdoor activities with local young people from the local area of Brihgton and Hove. Volunteers must have an interest in sport and young people and have a good understanding of English.
Tarefas: Sport and youth work
The volunteers will support the delivery of a range of sport activities including football, basketball, etc for a range of local children and young people.
They will also support the delivery of youth work programme including youth clubs and trips.
There will be a strong crossover of hostel clients using the sport and youth work activities and an importantly part of the work will be to support this process.
Hostel work
Develop and deliver a programme of social activities including sport and other developmental and leisure activities with the hostels clients.

Support the delivery of a range of sport activities including football, basketball, etc for a range of children and young people.
Support the delivery of youth work programme including youth clubs and trips.
Condições: The volunteers will live in one of the central hostels in a separate flat area. They will have to abide by the same rules as the residents so they cannot have parties or have people staying over without permission.
Formação: The volunteers will learn a range of skills including sport and youth work skills through work with a range of children and young people. They will be offered sport based training and qualifications (UK Sport Leadership Award and FA Level One coach). Additionally they will gain first aid and child protection skills/qualifications. They will gain valuable skills in supporting vulnerable and sometimes challenging young people which will include improving their inter-personal skills at various levels and communications skills. The volunteers will be offered in house training for all the activities that they will undertake and this in turn will give them skills to work with hostel client group, local young people and the vulnerable people that the YMCA currently work with.
