Resumo: The solidarity projects is a project with a diversity of activities and 4 international volunteers living together
and sharing work experiences. It starts half of august and it ends half of July. The hosting organization is an association with different departments all aiming to support youngsters in a vulnerable situation. We
have residentials settings, family support at home, youth house, teenage mother support, alternative
shoolprogramms and many more things are happening. In 2 of the departments we receive international volunteers
to bring in some diversity in the team and extra support in the work.

Both are situated in the same region approximately 2km from each other.
Centrum is a project center with different activities created by many people: a project with horses, a
project with rope course, a project for teenagers not attending school, a garden club, a crea club, a kitchen team,
some handy club for fixing things, a bike atelier and many other things. Each volunteer coming to Centrum gets the space to implement his or her passion. There is always help welcome in each of these activities.
The switch is a residential setting where girls live between 13 and 18 years old. Since they are not able to live in their family a space I created where they live together with 3 to 6 girls in a house. Social workers are taking ware of the daily life, family support and doing activities with the girls. The volunteer will help in daily life (cooking, shopping, support where needed in the house, going to the doctor with a girl, …) and have space to create some activities for the girls (crea, sports, game, …).

Perfil: We do select 4 volunteers each with a different focus:
A volunteer with a passion for horses/animals to support the work in Equicanis.
A volunteer with a passion for environment to support the gardenclub or other enviromental tasks
A volunteer with a passion for creativity to take part in the artfactory.
A volunteer with a passion for youngsters in difficult situations to support the switchteam.
Besides one focus the volunteer gets the chance to help in the different areas and choose a more specific part to
develop his/her skills in that area. Besides this the volunteer will be part of a diverse crew of people: youngsters,
social workers, local and international volunteers.
Meeting other people, learn to work and even live with them is part of the project.

Tarefas: The program is made upon to the qualities of the volunteer.
Depending on the focus of your tasks your schedule will be made. A day starts at 9h and ends at 17h, either starts at lunchtime till 21h when helping in the residential setting. Depending on your work hours you eat either lunch or dinner together with the people from the project. There is a possibility in the first months for extra language support in the evening and/or on Wednesday afternoon.

Tasks will we chosen out of these:
Horses: help to feed the horses, clean the paddocks, bring them from one place to another place
Garden: weeding, seeding, planting, … depending on the season
Stretch-it: learn about knots, climbing technics, join some outdoor activities
Switch: help in a residential setting where live teenagers (cooking or some activity)
Kitchen: help cutting vegetables for soupteam, help cooking the lunch, prepare an intercultural dish
Crea: make handcrafts according to the period either to sell or for decoration
Bike: help to repair bikes, support the bike trips
Each long-term volunteer has the space to choose an own project and develop this.

Condições: There are 2 buildings. The main building with activity rooms, sleeping rooms and meeting rooms on the picture here and a second building with housing for long term volunteers, a meeting room and office. You will have a private room. The room has a single bed, a closet and a little desk. The bedroom will be equipped with sheets and blankets. Bathroom, kitchen en living room is in common with the other international volunteers.
WIFI is available in the whole centre.
