Resumo: The National Park and the Regional Park were established to preserve and restore natural and cultural heritage of the ethnical region, as well as to organise a sustainable use of it’s resources, to spread environmental ideas and raise eco-awareness. From January 1st of 2010 authorities of the National Park and the Regional Park have united. About 40 employees take care of nature and culture reserves, monuments and other valuable objects.

They organize scientific researches, collect data and information about natural and cultural values within the area and provide it to visitor centers or in publications. Main task for them is to create conditions for visiting the park without making harm to nature as well as environmental education.

Target groups are park visitors (single, groups, families) and students of all ages, local communities. Besides above mentioned activities administration annually organizes traditional festivals and other events, gives nature lessons and provide guided tours.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: Two activities are planned within a project: raising environmental awareness of the community and engaging community in the national park site and habitat management. They focus on environmental education and on involvement of community as volunteers to the site and habitat management in the park. Tasks related to it will be educational activities for schoolkids, for families and other social groups, guided nature tours and thematic events for anyone interested in it, presentations at schools and libraries about the park and its values, nature conservation, environmental issues, sustainable development, volunteering; meetings with a community, planning tasks for volunteer groups and organizing their work.

Condições: Volunteers will be provided with an accommodation. They will share a flat/apartment with a kitchen, shower, bathroom and separate room for each volunteer. The workplace is in the visitor center of the park, that is within walking distance and they will be also be provided with bikes. The travel costs from the home country to Lithuania at the beginning of the project and the way back at the end as well as all the work-related journeys and the expenses related to visas will be totally reimbursed. Participants will receive allowance including food allowance on monthly bases.
