Resumo: The hosting organization is one of the 27 day care centers in the funding body of the office of education,
social affairs and family of the city. It is in public ownership.
Alltogether 45 children in the age of 1 to 6 years are taken care of in three mixed-aged groups in a
range of 20 to 50 hours per week.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: The main task of the volunteers is the accompaniment for the children. They can play together, they can support them creative and adaptive in different ways and assist them in learning daily activities.
The work is very manifold and involves pedagogical, domestical economics and nursing activities, whereby the task fields of the volunteers can be arranged individually and can be developed with the tutor.

Especially the different projects which take place several times in a year, give the opportunity to the volunteers to involve actively in the pedagogical work in different kinds regarding to their own interests
and resources.
In percentage the tasks are distributed as following: Around 80% of the whole activities are pedagogical
work, 15% domestic tasks and around 5 % tasks in home care.

The day in the Kinderhaus starts at 6:30 am. The parents bring their children and are welcomed by the pedagogical team. In the morning they can choose freely what and where they want to play. Next to the group room the children have different other theme rooms, e.g. artist workshop, a room for physical exercise (Bewegungsbaustelle) and there are different learning opportunities. During the free play time the children can eat breakfast in the group room.
In the morning the children of each group are comming together in a morning circle. A collective welcome is taking place there, whereby they sing and play together, discuss about current topics and explain the daily schedule.

Afterwards all groups are moving to the outside. There is the possibility of playing in the garden and also regular trips into the nature. Once a week all children go to the nearby Gym.
During lunch time all children go back in the house to eat lunch together. Afterwards a rest period takes place. All children have the possibilities to rest or sleep in the sleeping room. The preschool children can calm down in a group with quiet activities. This is the time where the volunteers can make their break.

Afterwards the children can play again in the group room, in the house or in the garden. The children are getting picked by the parens during the afternoon. The Kinderhaus is closing at 5 pm.

Condições: A room in student´s dorm Studentenwohnheim Schelmenwasen will be requested for the volunteers.

They have furnished single rooms with a shared bathroom for two rooms and a kitchen for the whole floor. As well as the opportunity to get to know other people and keep social contacts. If the volunteer is not accepted for this hall of residence for students, there will be the possibility to look for shared apartments in the town.

The Kinderhaus am Neckar offers lunch. The „pedagogical snack“ is possible with a participation at the food without extra costs. A complete meal can be ordered for 3 €. The volunteers get a fixed sum of money for food, so that the food on free days can be prepared independent
