Resumo: Tipu Nature School is a non-profit organization founded in august 2007 with the aim of connecting
people with nature and promoting environmental awareness.
Tipu Nature School is situated on the base of an old schoolhouse in Tipu village in Soomaa National
Park/South-West Estonia , which is known for its vast bog complexes, rivers and flooded meadows.
Soomaa offers great possibilities for nature hikes and observations.
The main focus of the Nature School is on educational programs for school and kindergarden kids.
We also offer nature camps for youngsters during school vacation. Apart from we organize nature
hikes, lectures and trainings on environmental education, permaculture, handicrafs.
Our aim is to build up an interactive, informative and attractive complex. So far the Nature School
offers lots of smaller attractions like barefoot-trail, permaculture garden, water playground and the
interaction with our animals (goats, chicken, rabbits and bees).
With the help of volunteers from different countries we build up the grounds of the Nature School,
keep our hiking trail in order and restore a wooded meadow within the National Park. We organize
international workcamps every year.
Tipu Nature School in active in the devolopment of the region. At the moment the organization is
responsible for working out a sustainable turism strategy.
CooperationsTogether with partners in Estonia in Latvia we implement waste audit programs in
schools.
Tipu Nature School has two employees and additional staff during children camps and work camps.
There are also two german volunteers staying within the organization for one year.

Tarefas: Living more lightly addresses the need to consume less, own less and therefore to have less negative impact on our environment. Our Western economy is build up on other principles, but change in minds is visable and we as an environmental education organization would like to inspire our visitors and followers. What can we as a non-profit organization do, how should we change our habits and work processes, where can we minimize our impact, what are our stories to tell and which good practices can we implement? With the help of the volunteer we will address these questions and topics. The volunteer will participate in our activities, help to organize and promote them. The volunteer will bring in new approaches, ideas, skills and diversify our team. As for language skills the volunteer has also access to good practices in other countries and can support us to find new partners.

Activities will be connected to our Nature School grounds and the Soomaa National Park and we are planning workshops on permaculture, gardening, woodwork, cheese making, natural cosmetics, waste reduction and beekeeping. The volunteer will gain valuable practical skills, reflect on his/her own life and share his/her ideas with our and his/her own community. This might happen by a movie, a photo documentation or an installation. With the project we also want to show the need to take responsibility for the future of our planet, to be solidary with people around the world effected more intensively by loss of ecosystem services and to take care for other species on our planet. And we are seeking answers for the question how to make our services more sustainable.
