Resumo: We are looking for candidates motivated to support Special School. The main objective of our project „Mobility for Solidarity” implemented within the framework of the European Solidarity Corps is the common work and integration of volunteers, teachers, students, their families and the local community around the Special School. Volunteers working with disabled students, supporting them daily, will have an impact on the students’ feeling of being a full-fledged part of the community (via f.e. trips, walks, participating in concerts and other cultural events). Thanks to the opportunity of working in a new, multicultural environment, volunteers will gain a number of new competences such as team work skills, individual work, communicating in Polish language, English and other languages that they will be able to use during the project.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: Volunteer will work in Special Educational School. Volunteer will be selected to work with particular age group by experienced school staff.

Main activities of the volunteer will focus on working with children and youth with disabilities. They will assist teachers and therapists in teaching young people daily-life competences, art, craft – using therapy based on different incentives. Volunteer will participate in all every-day activities in the school except those which require special pedagogical and psychological preparation. Volunteer will work independently but with support and under supervision of the employees, especially in the beginning of their voluntary service when they do not have sufficient experience and are facing language barrier.

Suggested activities for the volunteer are as follows:

Supporting children in the pedagogical process under supervision of teachers: painting, singing, computer work, motion games, training of dressing up, sewing, playing on instruments, gardening, cooking, artistic and ceramic workshops;

Individual help for students during classes;
Helping teachers in preparing the classes – taking care and preparing educational instruments and tools;
Helping in organizing school events (example: national and religious holidays, local traditions)
Help with feeding and taking care of personal hygiene of the students;
Participating in trips, camps and educational tours and visits, for example to theatre, exhibitions, museums, public utility places.
The schedule and plan of excursions will depend on class in which the volunteer will be engaged. The schedule will be flexible due to the high number of events taking place at school and current needs.

Volunteer will be supported by the coordinator from Hosting Organisation and school staff throughout the project.

With time, Volunteer will also receive chance to introduce own workshop, that he/she will need to prepare as a part of the project with the support of his/her coordinator and teachers from Hosting Organisation and coordinators from Coordinating Organisation (example: dancing workshops, language lessons, national days etc.).

The working languages are English and Polish. However, a Volunteer is recommended to practice Polish as it is most often used in everyday work.

Condições: Accommodation:
Volunteer will be accommodated in a room in rented flat (in most cases shared with another volunteer the same sex) with access to kitchen and bathroom.
Volunteers will share a flat together, they usually have double rooms.
Flats are furnished and equipped with pillows, duvet covers, pillow cases and washing machine.
Internet connection /Wi-Fi is not provided, however it is possible to arrange it (prices vary from 15-30 PLN/monthly per person).
