Resumo: The volunteers will develop personal competences living and working in new environment as well as contribute to local community working on the activities that will foster intercultural learning and dialogue. Important part of the volunteers’ activities is courses of cultures for local youth in order to promote cultural diversity and tolerance (understanding) to different cultures.
Perfil: The main characteristics of the volunteers' profile we would host are:
- open-mindedness and flexibility;
- resolution and motivation to gain experience in working;
- responsibility to fulfill the given tasks;
- interest and related activities on Human Rights and/or culture;
- adequacy with our aims, objectives and target group.
Tarefas: - promoting volunteering in Lithuania (e.g. meetings with other NGOs and young Lithuanians who are interested in opportunities and experience of voluntary service in Europe);
- helping in international cooperation on topics of Human Rights and thus creating international network of youth organizations / direct contribution to implementing projects such as seminars, training courses, youth exchanges, etc.;
- giving access to spread information about volunteer's culture, characteristics of the people and how to work with them among the members of our organization and other Lithuanian partners in order to strenghten European dimmension;
- other activities (if possible to implement in our organization) which are initiated by a volunteer and do not depart from the EVS guiding principles.
Such learning opportunities can be offered in our organization:
- direct touch to and knowledge of Lithanian culture: language, traditions, daily life, history, economical and social life, mentality of local people, etc;
- understanding NGO working system, activities and daily work by being internally involved;
- experience working in international team, communicational skills;
- knowing other cultures and countries by implementing and participating in international projects in Lithuania and abroad;
- skills and knowledge on project management by supporting and contributing to project-related tasks and activities (e.g. facilitating);
- deepening knowledge and experience in the frame of informal education on Human Rights issues.
Horário: Example of a typical volunteer's working day in our organization:
10.00 - 13.00 Helping project managers to contact partner organizations, update them with information, answering questions. Helping project trainers to prepare concrete activities for planned projects;
13.00 - 14.00 Lunch break;
14.00 - 18.00 Lithuanian language and culture courses. Meeting local youth:
- giving information about volunteer's culture (prepared activities, cultural evenings)
- sharing info about EVS experience, opportunities.
The schedule and activities could/would vary due to occurrence of projects, volunteer's abilities, etc.
Formação: Volunteers would bring not only experience how to be a volunteer but also different cultural and social understanding.
Our motivation is to allow youth getting all kind of experience in volunteering. Young people sent to volunteer service as well as hosted in our organization could share the new knowledge with the members of hosting/sending organizations, promote EVS among youth, apply it in their lives.
