Resumo: One of the library's objectives is contributing to the cultural development of the town. The activities want to promote the use of the library and increase the interest in literature, of adults as well as children.
Some of the objectives of the activities are:
- Reduce cultural and educational inequalities of the population, facilitate the access to cultural goods and democratize information.
- Create a collective consciousness of the value and importance of the library as an information resource.
- Offer the idea that the library is for everyone to the public and that even non-readers can find something interesting
The services offered to the users are the service of information where people of all ages are trained how to find information, the service of consultation and reading in situ of documentation funds, the book loan service. Help is offered to the formation, they orientate themselves depending on the users, offering them the necessary for their development and their learning process. And also, activities performed for the users, activities orientated in the increase of the usage of the library and reading of adults and children: the storytelling hour for the smaller children, literature workshops, conferences, talks, book presentations, exhibitions, poetry reading, music circles, workshops and courses etc.
Perfil: • We require an active volunteer, dynamic, with ideas, friendly, with communication skills, empathetic, assertive and open to know people from different cultures.
• The main requirement is that you are motivated to learn and to take initiative, and that you love working with kids and teens.
• We value positively the interest and expertise in leisure, education, culture and social work with youth and children.
• We require a basic level of Spanish language in order to integrate quickly and understand what to do.
• The volunteers will offer support in the different activities yet they will also develop their own initiatives in personal projects. They can start a project depending on their interests with the help of his/her co-workers aiming at the promotion of reading, youth and child integration, etc.
Age: 18-30
Tarefas: The main task of the volunteers will be the attention to the youngsters, children through the support of the activities and programmed projects aimed at the promotion of education and the tutoring outside school, education of values of coexistence, tolerance and solidarity.
The volunteers will offer support in the different activities yet they can also develop their own initiatives in personal projects. They can start a project depending on their interests with the help of his/her co-workers aiming at the promotion of reading, youth and child integration, etc.
● Helping the users according to their needs (formative, informative, research, educational, etc.)

● Help with scheduling activities that are carried out in the afternoon and evenings, and support to carry them out. (English speaking workshops, storytelling, handcrafts..)
● Personal project: the volunteer will have the possibility to realize activities and develop his/her own personal project related to the two sections of his/her project (library, Centre Obert La Tribu)
● Helping the youngsters of the Tribu center with their homework and the information research in the library
● Helping in the setting of exhibitions, the book day (Sant Jordi) and other cultural activities (e.g. “la supernit a les biblioteques”)
● Cooperation with the organization: telling tales, and the Library for the day of the mother tongue or the day of the poetry.
● Diffusion of volunteering opportunities, ESC and Erasmus Plus: create together with other ESC or former EVS volunteers and members, talks and/or theatre plays in formal and non-formal educative centres or cultural centres
Horário: • Hosting afternoon break and ludic activities: when the children arrive at the centre they usually eat. If there is a child who hasn’t brought any food he/she will be offered some. The small children are in the playground from 17 to 17.45h, the bigger ones from 17 to 17.30h.
• Tutoring from 17.30 to 18.30: the group will be divided in two groups according to their age (6-9-year-old and 10-12-year-old) with a maximum of 10 children per tutor. The small groups allow a more individual attention with the aim of answering the concrete needs of each child. The volunteer will help the children and youngsters with their homework.
• Games and free time activities, workshops etc. when the children have done their homework: the activities' topic changes in a periodical cycle, for example: recycling, music, peace, nature, etc. The volunteer will help with games and the activities and has the possibility to propose some that he/she knows.
• One Friday per month, from 18.30 to 20:00, there are activities for parents who want to participate voluntarily with their children. The activities are varied: cinema, sports,storytelling, music therapy, etc.
• On Wednesdays, the little children go to the storytelling activity of the library, the older ones play sport on Thursdays. If the weather is nice, the kids may help volunteers of GEPEC to take care of the garden close to the library.
• Gathering of the material used and farewell: at 19.30 the material is gathered and organized altogether by all the children. Afterwards the children and monitors gather to talk about the day and make proposals to improve.
• Traditional festive days are celebrated (Castanyada, Christmas, Carnival). Activities with these topics are established.
• Personal Project: prepare, present, find support, realize and evaluate his own initiative. The volunteer will be proposed to participate in off-hours activities some afternoon or evening or during the weekends, the volunteer will get back its free time before or after the activity.
• Cooperation with the organization: telling tales in IES Cristófol Despuig in Sant Jordi party, and the Library of Roquetes for the day of the mother tongue or the day of the poetry.
• Diffusion of volunteering opportunities, ESC and Erasmus Plus: create together with other ESC or former EVS volunteers and members, talks and/or theatre plays in formal and non-formal educative centres or cultural centres.
