Resumo: Founded in 1984, the hosting organization was recognized in 1991 as a foundation of public interest. The organization is responsible for music education in over 60 municipalities of Luxembourg (certified music courses) with over 5,500 students enrolled in various music courses. In the field of non-formal education, the organization organizes throughout the year numerous vocational and advanced training courses and workshops on the national and international level, as well as bilateral and multilateral exchanges in collaboration with other youth organisers and partners, including the National Youth Service (Youth Ministry) of Luxembourg. The activities of the organization are aimed towards residents of Luxembourg and the greater region, as well as residents of other European countries for the international activities.
With regard to its social integration and youth policy, the organization integrates every year young students in its administration office for an internship of several weeks, as well as numerous young people in the coaching staff of its vocational and advanced music courses. In the past, the organization has already welcomed several European volunteers in the frame of the Erasmus+/ Youth in Action programme with the idea that the dynamism and the new and upcoming ideas of young people allow to develop better didactic and tutorial approaches and initiatives oriented towards youth, notably in the field of the new means of communication.
The participation in the ESC (EVS) is challenging for both our organization and the volunteers. As a specialized youth organization, we want to reinforce the professional knowledge of the volunteers by developing their organizational and pedagogical skills and expertise in various domains that could help them in their future professional career. Our work as a national and international promoter of culture, music, folklore, theatre and youth will also allow the volunteers to gain a unique insight into how to develop and elaborate projects, to coach and supervise groups of children and youngsters, and to work in teams, all of this in a multicultural environment.

Tarefas: In the field of non-formal education, the Music School organises every year numerous vocational and advanced training courses and workshops, as well as youth exchanges and projects at national and international level in collaboration with other local and foreign partners.
The inclusion of young volunteers in these international activities - like international youth exchanges, orchestral working sessions for young musicians, and concert tours of young talented European and Luxembourgish soloists - contributes to reinforce the professional knowledge of the volunteers by developing their organizational and pedagogical skills and expertise in various domains that could help them in their future professional career. These activities also give volunteers a unique insight into how to develop and elaborate projects, to coach and supervise groups of children and youngsters, and to work in teams, all of this in a multicultural environment. On the other hand, these activities benefit from the dynamism and the new and upcoming ideas of the volunteers, and also from their skills in the field of the new means of communication and social networks.
Our ESC (EVS)-project project makes provision for entrusting one volunteer during twelve months - from January to December 2020 - with specific administrative, creative and coaching tasks - according to his/her skills and preferences - related to our activities aimed at the youth with an international or European dimension scheduled in our annual activity program, like international youth exchanges, orchestral working sessions for young musicians, concert tours of young talented European and Luxembourgish soloists.
The volunteer will be involved in the organisation of youth projects, including promotion and media coverage, communication and cooperation with foreign partners and participants; elaboration of the daily schedule of the projects; elaboration of a youth related cultural program (trips, talks, visits); promotion activities to arouse the interest of participants and public; ongoing contacts and support to help participants solve any problem before, during and after the projects; pedagogical coaching of the young participants to solve any problem and favour perfect integration into the group; pedagogical assessment of the results of the projects.
The aim of our ESC (EVS)-project is to reinforce the professional knowledge of volunteers by developing some qualities and abilities which could be useful in their future professional career – notably relational, organizational and linguistic skills - in the rich and diversified surrounding of a cultural organization dedicated to the youth. The direct involvement in multicultural activities with young people will also help develop their ability to adhere to a project, to work as a team and to coach groups of young people.
For its part, our organization wants to benefit from the dynamism and the new and upcoming ideas of young volunteers in order to broaden the horizon in what concerns didactic and tutorial approaches and initiatives oriented towards youth, but also with regard to the new means of communication used by young people.
Activities in which the volunteer will be involved:
- January to December 2020: working in close cooperation with the EMCY (European Union of Music Competitions for Youth) and other music competitions to promote activities for young soloists as well as collaborating with European partners on Erasmus+ and Creative Europe projects (subject to financing);
- March 2020: Discover Music! Workshops and concerts in Luxembourg-Germany;
- April 2020: National Youth Wind Orchestra Luxembourg: orchestral working session;
- July 2020: International Music Week in Esch-sur-Alzette (L): international youth exchange organized in the frame of the EU-program “Erasmus + / Youth in Action”;
- November 2020: European Competition for Young Soloists at the Conservatoire du Luxembourg (L), with more than 120 young musicians coming from all over the world.
