Formação: YMCA Baia Mare strongly believes that EVS is an excellent opportunity for young people who are willing to see and experience more in their lives that will enlarge their points of view to life itself. We are already doing our youth work in our community since 2001 with our eagerness to do more for youth and our community. We have an open, friendly and enjoyable working field which includes a lot of cooperation. What we believe is that we are more than ready to be responsable in EVS as a coordinator, host and sending organisation. We have experience of working with volunteers also with foreign ones, not EVS but Peace Corps, during the years we worked and still working with Peace Corps volunteers that are in Community Non-guvernamental Platform, which includes 20 local NGO`s , and where YMCA Baia Mare leades the youth field/sector.
As a host organisation, we believe that our working atmosphere can be a great opportunity for a young person who are willing to do his/her EVS in Romania, in Baia Mare. There is enough space for volunteers in our Community Youth Center Y4U to enjoy the youth work that we do together with us. We have a lot of experience in youth area both in Romania but also in European level, as professionals, and we are ready to share our knowledge with our EVSers. We also have a lot of members and volunteers who already did a lot of exchanges, international trainings and experiences abroad. It will be easy for our organisation but also for our EVSers to get used to our working environment. EVS volunteers should have experience working as a volunteer in social, cultural, youth or environmental project and also to have some ideas about volunteerism. The EVS volunteers should have at least basic level of English and computer skills. They are better to tend to create new ideas, initiatives, have a promoting communication style. They are also expected to like travelling and tend to learn other cities in our region and in Romania. We prefer to work with volunteers to we can exchange our knowledge on Youth work.
As a sending organisation, we are willing to send our volunteers to other countries to do their EVS. From experience we know that this opportunity does not come everyday in life. So why not let our volunteers to enjoy it and learn from it? We already have some volunteers who are waiting to do EVS and we think that EVS will add a lot to their personal, social, cultural and professional development. We will be a tool for them to reach their goals: to do an EVS in a place that they want to live and be a volunteer in some period of their lives. Keeping contact and sharing with them during their EVS, also after they turn back home will add a lot of new understanding and insights to our working environment in YMCA Baia Mare. Our volunteers have experience working with children and youngsters, in social, environmental, cultural projects. They have at least basic level English and computer skills and they have also some new ideas to create activities for support local projects. Volunteers get trainings about volunteerism, project managem, ent and communications, as they are working in 3 main departments : research, communication and public relations and logistics.
As a coordinator organisation we believe that we can take full care and responsibility of coordinating the parties that will have an EVS partnership. We, as professionals of this organisation, have a lot of experience in coordinating youth exchanges and youth organisation for a lot of years now. We know how to lead the dynamics that is going in between the partners, we know how to clarify expectations and we know how to run the agreements between parties. So the coordinator role of YMCA Baia Mare will be both functional and enjoyable for the people that will be in contact for EVS as coordinator organisation.
YMCA Baia Mare is promoting youth work on local, regional and national level, as member of national YMCA movement. We develop networking and partnerships activities between public organisations and NGO`s in order to enhance and spread of youth work. We want to improve our projects , international relations, european dimension, volunteerism, diversity and intercultural learning. We also have partnerships with international organisations on youth work topic.
We would like to send/host/coordinate volunteers in order to provide a learning opportunity to a young adult from another country with the possibility of pursuing future work in this field. Volunteers from abroad add an international perspective to organisations. Also all volunteers bring new ideas with them and are encourages to make suggestions of ways of widening the service receivers experiences and interest. They should have new ideas and create their activities.
