Resumo: The hosting organization is a non-profit organization which develops environmental and heritage conservation projects. Since the 1960’s, we organize summer camps to involve people from foreign countries and give them the opportunity to meet, to be useful, to discover our region, to help the preservation of our heritage and the peace between communities! Since the 80’s we develop social inclusion works, but we are still organizing volunteer camps!

What is this project for? As always, we think that to develop tolerance between people, the best way is to meet each other. With this project we intend to make young people from foreign countries to meet each other and to meet locals. This project will give the opportunity to young people to propose and develop their own ideas, it shall give them confidence. We use heritage as a medium because it allows to create bridges between cultures, and to develop the sense of community and European citizenship.

Who? When? This project will involve 14 volunteers aged between 18 and 30, and from 7 countries: Germany, Estonia, Romania, Spain, Poland, Italy and France. The volunteers will arrive to Rennes on July 1st and leave on August 1st.

Perfil: Age: 18-30

Tarefas: The volunteers will have two missions. The enhancement of Breton heritage and the development of relations with locals. So as to implement these missions, the volunteers will pass through three different stages:
1- Integration: from June 1st to 5th, the Team of Volunteers, will be welcome to Rennes in order to have the integration period. In addition to some team buildings activities, the volunteers will have the chance to get to know the city and do some touristic activities.

2- Workcamp: from 5th July to 26nd July, the volunteers will go to a small and welcoming village. Every day, they will split into teams to carry out different activities. On one hand, a part of the team will work doing the maintenance of a trekking path and the masonry on ancient Brittany heritage buildings. On the other hand, the other part of the international volunteer team will organize activities with the local population: intercultural café, stand on the market, sports, activities with the youth population of the village and kids, presentation of their countries, etc. The teams will be different each day so as to all the volunteers can perform all the activities. Saturdays and Sundays are days of and the volunteers can discover and enjoy the region!

3- Evaluation: to end up with the experience, from 26th July to 1st August, the volunteers will come back to the firts place in order to evaluate and assess the project.

Condições: An important part of these projects is the community life. The volunteers will spend a lot of time together. They will have to live, work, organize their free time, manage the common budget, cook and eat all together. Summarizing, this project demands of acceptation, active listening, comprehension and motivation since the volunteers will experience what is living into a community for one month.

Regarding the work, they are meant to do physical work outside and to propose activities with both, the other volunteers and the local community. They will discover local traditions, food, music, dances and weather! The accommodation during the work-camp is done in tents in the local football stadium. All the equipment to sleep (tents, mattresses, blankets, sheets, pillows, etc.), the cooking staff, and normal self-hygiene elements (toilets, bathrooms, showers, etc.) are provided. During the time the volunteers are not in the work-camp, they will be in Rennes and they will have more free time and an individual room in a dormitory: time to relax! With the European Voluntary Service program, volunteers will get 6 euros per day for their individual expenses. This allowance is given all project long.
During the work-camp period, we will provide them a common food budget that is managed by the own group. During the time she volunteers are in Rennes, there is a food budget of 7€ a day.

Transportation from and to the residence countries of the volunteers will be reimbursed.
However, there exist a budget celling depending on the distances of the residence country of the volunteer and France.
Transportation in France is also given by the organization. The volunteers will have vehicles from the organization available to discover the region.

What to bring?
There are two crucial things the volunteers must bring: motivation and the will to discover the local heritage.
Clothes for one week (we will provide washing machines), self-hygiene elements (shampoo, shower gel, personal self-care staffs, etc.), a towel, swimming suit. We provide a t-shirt and a pair of safety shoes for the work-camp. However the volunteers should bring some clothes that may get dirty.
