Resumo: The hosting organization operates several institutions in and around Berlin. The pedagogical concept is based on the principle of progressive education created by Maria Montessori as well as the latest pedagogical insights.
The hosting organization offers high quality early development in a multicultural setting.
Up to 100 children are taken care of here from 7am to 6pm. Welcomed are children from one year up to 6 years from different cultures; the group operates bilingually in English and German.
The international staff gives the children a daily intercultural insight. Children and teachers have a close relationship characterized by trust, shared experiences, and intensive communication.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Volunteers should possess very good knowledge of the English language (C1)
Be interested in and be open about (Montessori) pedagogy
Initiative of one's own
Sport and/or musical skills are welcome
Interest in working with children
Tarefas: - Accompanying the morning routine, eg. supporting the children in their daily live
- To look after children, to read sth. to the children
- Accompanying trips (for example to the forest, sports hall or other places)
- Working in the kitchen (food preparation, celaning the dishes after the group lunch)
- Accompanying the children during their lunch break
Imortant: Although the volunteer should be familiar with the principles of Montessori teaching, it is possible to develop and offer own (little) projects for the children.

- Change of roles from learner to educational tutor- supporting the educator and child care worker
Horário: The opening hours of the Montessori- Kinderhaus Friedenau are from 8:00 am till 17:00 pm. Usually the volunteers are working from Monday to Friday for about 35 hours per week. The weekends are off.
Condições: Accommodation is provided in a shared apartment - probably with one or two other volunteers, which is about an hour from the working place by bus/train. Every volunteer will get his/her own room and a shared bathroom and kitchen.
A washing machine and internet access are also available.
You will be provided with a monthly ticket for local public transport.
During the working time, it´s possible to eat at the Kinderhaus Friedenau. You will also receive a
monthly payment for grocery shopping.
