Resumo: The coordinating organization is a non-profit organisation based on the Christian values providing services in fields of social work, health and education in the area of Moravian-Silesian and South Moravian regions. The organization´s services are mainly focused on people with disabilities, the elderly, the homeless, children and young people, members of minority groups and others who have become caught in various difficult situations of life. In 2014, SD incorporated more than 60 homes and centres with 104 registered social services carried out by more than 600 employees. These services were provided to almost 8000 users.
Target group of this project: Excluded youth, Roma, families with children
Perfil: Age: 18-30
You should be open to work with the target group of teenagers and be able to apply some of your own skills. Musical and sporting talents are welcome.
Tarefas: You can give lessons of your native language and apply your own skills that can enrich the community centre’s offer of activities. You can join the project of the modern music choir and the fusion band s well as activities of sporting and artistic character. You can help in clubs and libraries. You will learn how to work together in a team of Czech volunteers and joint activities. You can learn how to lead language lessons and develop their ability to learn in an environment of trust and small groups. You can learn in the workshops to play a musical instrument and perform with a music group and a choir. You can provide new actions by being involved in their preparation, learn how to cook some traditional Czech dishes. You can learn to present your own activities and to engage in sports activities as well as club management. You can also learn how to work in the community centre library – for example by backing books.
Challenges
Work with a smaller group of children in the winter time. Joining a languagespeaking group is difficult, though coworkers and most young people speak English. You will work with unskilled children from disturbed families. You will do a bit of gardening (cutting grass, raking leaves, cleaning-up snow in winter), and help by preparing refreshments for community centre events followed by cleaning.
