Resumo: the hosting organization manages two centres accredited according to regional regulations: a Residential Social Rehabilitation Centre, for 20 disabled people, and a Residential Social Rehabilitation Centre, for 25 disabled people.
Disability can create isolation and make it difficult to create bonds and relationships that are a primary need for every human being. The Communities promotes instead a "living together" where each member can feel welcomed and free to be himself.
The context in which community life develops is characterized by a pedagogical and therapeutic environment that enables people with disabilities to grow in all dimensions of the person. From this point of view, the presence of volunteers increases the quality of life of each person received, the possibility of ever greater integration in the context and in social relations. For each person welcomed, both in the residential and in the daytime centres, an Individual Educational Educational Project (PEAI) is developed, developed by a multidisciplinary team, with the active and fundamental participation of the person with disabilities and his / her family. The project envisages the programming of actions aimed at the acquisition of individual autonomy and the enhancement of everyone’s capacity in different areas of life; to promote greater socialisation and integration capacity in the area, thanks also to the generous and free help of volunteers in the community and to support the relationship with the family and contexts of origin. L’Arche has the ambition to realise the four fundamental dimensions of a person's life: the professional dimension because people with disabilities require competent and specialised accompaniment; the community dimension because every person must be part of a relational network that recognises and allows them to grow; the spiritual dimension because the relationship with the divine resides in humanity, whether we are or not believers, rooted or less in a religious faith; the social dimension because it is essential to interact with the social and local environment of the territory through the participation and testimony of our values, which we want to be a visible sign.
The hearths are the centres of the community, where the disabled people live together with some assistants and volunteers. Shared times are very simple and marked by everyday activities: meals, parties, housekeeping, projects, holidays, meetings, free time, prayer.
The lab is the place where disabled people work, taking into account the different abilities. It’s about accompanying each one by giving him the opportunity to participate in one of the different laboratories, paper, clay, shop, kitchen or garden to care for animals or to carry out gardening work. The laboratory also includes physical activities, art and music.
