Resumo: We foresee noOR volunteer assisting us in following activities:
1) we are hosting short-term EVS called Awake Senses with loads of people and it would be even more good to have somebody from outside also in the coordinating side.
2) at the moment we are coordinating 14 different EVS project around Estonia and we keep our EVS volunteers active, meaning they are doing local action project which need some coordination from our side. noOR volunteer would be the one helping to coordinate them.
3) we are planning to run a 3 up to 5 days long camp for disabled youth in the summer of 2012, that is also where we could use another perspective.
Perfil: The profile of the volunteers is not strongly limited and has always been relatively opened. Volunteers are expected to be open minded and interested to work with concrete target group of the activities, main criteria is the motivation of doing EVS in general and additionally motivation to do exactly the work they are applying for. At least basic English is needed for working in the project in order to communicate with the leaders and youngsters and to manage in everyday environment. Main informing about vacancies is organized through different mailing lists, web pages and through previous contacts and social network.
The volunteers will work next to experienced and professional workers and volunteers of hosting organisations and will get guidance from them. They will work in a team, where they have a support from colleagues and concrete tasks to fill.
Tarefas: As the proposed EVS project consists of activities quite different from each other, we see it as a advantage due to volunteer has possibility to learn new things in different fields.
Cooperating with our partners she/ he can get experiences in working with different target groups (mainly disable young people or rural area communities) developing awareness campaigns and mobilizing the communities around with local small projects. Working with own initiative projects is very useful for volunteer as she/he will get full support from our organisation side.
Working in the office and preparing projects and materials is valuable experience for volunteer as members of our organisation are experienced in (international) youth/social work and from them there is possibility to learn a lot. Have a possibility to develop the organisation quality work and promote the organisation and its activities in several ways.
Since our organisation is very small, then the volunteer will be full member of our organisation and will get full support from organisation side. The volunteer will work in close relation with the project managers and have close contact with the board members and local volunteers too.
Volunteer have 3 sort of tasks during the project:
1. Promoting activities in the international field and EVS 30%
2. Work in the office with supporting activities and staff 50%
3. Volunteers own initiative projects 20%
Promoting activities in the international/local field and EVS/Local Volunteering:
Volunteer will contact different partners all around Estonia and promote different opportunities of local and international opportunities connected with noOR or any of its partners. The volunteer will join different groups in order to participate in different fairs and events sharing material, talking with young people or making videos or photos about the events. The idea is that the volunteer would be a "ambassador" of the active participation among young people and will share his/her experience and different ways to participate in the society, through noOR, partners or as a citizen.
Working in the office:
In the office volunteer have different tasks which are also depending his/her skills and experiences. Mainly office work consist of preparing different activities like seminars, youth exchanges and for that volunteer can collect and prepare materials, communicate with partners and participants, help to write applications etc. The volunteer can also help with the blog, webpage, facebook of the organisation. Write news about its activities and reporting. The idea is that the volunteer will support the daily staff with the tasks according his/her competences and be part of a very dynamic youth organisation.
Initiative project
Depending of the volunteers' experiences, knowledge and wish, there is always possible to organise his/her own initiative projects. It can be different study groups in child care for older children and in the weekends, projects with our cooperation partners in Estonia or as well abroad, preparing youth project etc.
Condições: Risk prevention and crisis management is a subject of attention worked previous and during the project. Its importance resides on prevention measures in order to avoid crisis or give tools to know how to manage cases of its existence.
Initially, it involves working in partnership with sending organizations to establish accurate pre departure training contents for the volunteers. During on arrival preparation it will continue the exploration of contents based on the creation of a trustable ambiance between all the involved persons, enhancing a close relationship between volunteers and mentors for creating a sense of proximity so that the volunteers will feel comfortable to easily speak about their eventual crisis moments.
This concern will be present in all the process, involving the 4 partners (volunteer, sending organization, hosting organization and coordinating organization) with the same concerns on this topic.
To better know the volunteer, after the preparation from the sending organization, it will be sent an evaluation of initial pre-departure training session to the hosting and coordinating organizations. Using this feedback of the evaluation sheets, it will be possible to adapt following activities for the arrival of the volunteer. We can organize on arrival sessions in continuity with the work pre done, trying to overcome eventual difficulties felt by the volunteers on the pre-departure period.
Special needs in terms of health conditions, allergies or others will be assessed previously to their arrival and attention will be given to all special needs. A file with family and sending organization emergency phone contacts will be ready for use at all times.
Additionally as we organise regular meetings with volunteers once in 2 months, then it also helps us to prevent problems growing big and avoid some bigger crises.
All volunteers and partners organsiation will share the contacts and there will be created a volunteers info card with all details in order to reach him or his/her family (back in his/her country) so all possible situations could be clarified in a short period of time, avoiding major problems.
