Resumo: Kooperativet Fjället is placed in an area where many of the residents feel excluded. There are almost no activities or meeting places where the residents can meet each other. And the service in the area is completely gone. This making it difficult for the residents, and especially for young people, to feel like a part of society. Many young people often end up in the wrong path, dropping out of school and in some cases connect to criminal circles. With this project we want to get rid of the attitude held by young people in the area, by encouraging them to active democratic participation both in our activities but also in society. And we want to create opportunities for the residents to have a chance to be part of their local community.

Objective of the project:
We want to create an awareness among the inhabitants of the area that they are part of society and have the opportunity to influence. In the short term, the goal is to create opportunities for the residents to meet, activities that contribute to increased participation and an interest among young people to a greater influence in our activities. In the long term, we believe that the project can promote active democratic participation among the inhabitants of the area which also results in safer and more active neighborhood.

Perfil: We have no requirements for education or previous experiences, but the volunteer needs to be social, creative and initiating as the main task will be to create and lead activities for residents in the area. An interest in working with people is a must. As we work a lot with young people, we prefer that the volunteer is 20 years or more, as we know from experience that the work can be complicated if the volunteers are too close to the age of the young people who visit our activities.

Tarefas: The main task for the volunteers will be to create activities for the inhabitants of the area. We work primarily with young people, but we want to create activities for all residents in the area. Activities where people of different ages and with different backgrounds can meet each other. The activities will be based on the volunteers' interests and knowledge, and on the wishes and needs of our visitors. Examples of activities can be music workshops, movie nights, cooking, crafts, sports, art, excursions or other things that interest the volunteers, our visitors and inhabitants. The schedule for the volunteer will vary and working hours will be covered both during day time and evenings.

Condições: We will host two volunteers and they will share an apartment. It is a two-room apartment equipped with everything you need in a home. The apartment is about a five minutes’ walk from the workplace.
