Resumo: If you have always dreamed of visiting Croatia and learning about nature protection in nature than this is the project for you. This program invites you on several different volunteer experiences,such as visiting and learning about speleological objects , working in nature landscape, working with children, learning Croatian and English language, learn about local construction methods, while assisting with temple painting and construction, as well as working int he field of marketing. By working alongside locals and meeting children within the village, volunteers may gain a deeper appreciation and understanding of Croatian culture and history.

The host organization is looking for dynamic, creative, forward looking, dedicated and results-oriented volunteers who want to work in nature and in field of nature conservation. The main aim of the project is exploration and protection of underground systems, karst surface form's, helping local's and learning about Croatia's nature and history. We believe that by sharing the responsibility of caring for our environment, we are able to conserve and protect it for the benefits of our future generations.

The long-term goal of the project is to acquire competences and promote volunteer work for the community well-being in the area of environmental and nature protection and to establish better cooperation between active participants in society. The project's short-term goals are:

1. To enable volunteers to acquire new skills (communicational, organizational and administrative) and knowledge
by learning through teamwork and the development of social and ecological awareness;

2.Improve the quality of work of Public Institution by integrating new working methods into everyday activities, creating a modern and dynamic working environment and developing European co-operation;

3. Contribute to the development of nonprofit projects and active participation, and connect people through group activities for the benefit of the local community. With the Nature Conservation Project we want to gather the volunteers from different countries and individuals from the local community on group activities, where we will deal with identifying natural resources, educating them and raising the level of ecological and social awareness. Concrete results of all project activities will be workshops for the local population with special focus on children and youth, workshops with associations and local government, project brochure. We will use the informal learning tools - we will create a small garden with healing and edible herbs. This project aim is to promote solidarity through socially beneficial activities in the local community that improves the quality of life and the level of social capital throughthe
promotion of active citizenship by utilizing the potential of the community and contributes to positive changes aimed at strengthening solidarity and protecting the environment / biodiversity

- Age: 18-30
- team workers, desire to work in the nature and field research
- computer skills
- desire to work with children
- high levels of communication skills, good knowledge of English language

Tarefas: 1. Education for local community.
The goal is education of local community and NGO-s about renewable resources and their protection.
First of all, the volonteers will recive education about that topic from the employees of the PI and after
that they will work on the concept of education for locals and NGO.

2. Outdoor clasroom – small garden with edible and healing herbs.
The goal is to continue to design and build small garden that will serve as outdoor clasroom. Volunteers
will recive education about bilogical diversity of Croatia, together with biologist and foresters they will
work on the field and learn more about each tree and plant. After that, they will work on the garden.
Volunteers need to build the fence around the garden, design the thematic sections of the garden, build
small pathways through garden, plant different species, build zone for children, insect house,hobit
house, signs/tiles with plant names, work in a field of marketing - design a brochure etc.

3. Education for volunteers.
Besides education that is mentioned above, one day in a week (usually Friday) volunteers will recive
education from different topics. They will learn more about protected areas in Croatia, protection
mechanisms, speleological objects, karst relief, nature protection etc. Apart from typical education
(lectures), together with the employees they will explore caves and pits, learn main speleological
techniques, hike and learn about marking of the hiking trails, have a boat ride on the river Lika (second
largest underground river in Europe) and learn about water in karst, they will also visit Old town of
Perušić and learn more about cultural heritage. Besides all of that, we will organize a visit to the folklore
and dance society in Perušić where volunteers will have the chance to learn how to dance traditional
dances and they will participate in workshop about knitting the wool. PI will also organize a one day trip
to national park “Norther Velebit”.

4. Personal project
Through this activity we will give chance to the volunteers to develop their ideas, their own intiatives and
skills. Also as a part of this activity, PI will organize a Croatian language course where they will have the
oppurtunity to learn Croatian, Croatian culture, heritage, songs etc. The volunteers will have the task to
design the official brochure off the project and to record a short movie about the project.
