Resumo: The Rehabilitation Center of Torture Victims "Memoria" is a non-governmental, non-profit, apolitical and independent organization, having the status of public institution, was established on 12 November 1999 and registered at the Ministry of Justice on 7 December 1999. We have 10 full time and 2 part time employees and 2 local volunteers.
Our main activities are the following:
1. Medico-social rehabilitation: providing free of charge medical, psychological, informational and legal assistance;
2. Prevention of torture: organizing conferences, workshops and other events with main topic - the medico-social rehabilitation of the torture victims, as well as any other kind of the activities with scientific, legal and humanitarian character, inclusively taking part in similar actions;
3. Information and Advocacy: elaborating and editing of the own publications, reports and informative materials;
4. Improving knowledge of the Center's staff members: organizing and participation at various national and international events;
5. Developing partnerships with relevant organizations and institutions: participations as an active member in various local and international alliances and networks in order to achieve efficiently the objectives of our organization.
Perfil: The main recruitment criterion for project candidate is: - motivation to work as an important part of the team, take up responsibility in the organisations; - to be actively involved in the tasks, such as participation at seminars, meetings, research, project preparation and management; - strong English skills, spoken and written; - strong motivation to learn local language.
Tarefas: PROPOSED ACTIVITIES FOR EVS VOLUNTEERS: The volunteers will get the opportunity to get involved in various aspects of RCTV "Memoria" activities, such as: - to develop collaboration with other NGOs and public institutions; - trying to raise awareness of the organization by writing applications for possible funding; - to maintain and update our web page; - to encourage and promote local volunteering; - helping in organizing conferences, workshops and other events with main topic - the medico-social rehabilitation of the torture victims; - helping in editing report, informative materials; - helping in developing social contacts with our beneficiaries by organizing thematic workshops, discussions or simply daily conversations. The volunteer tasks will be revised upon volunteer arrival according to the current activities of the organization and motivation and abilities of the volunteer. Although the volunteer will be given the necessary extent of autonomy to develop their approach to the project issues and will be encouraged to work independently.
Condições: Volunteer(s) will live in a host family or volunteer's flat with shared kitchen, toilet and bathroom. Also volunteer(s) will have access to the land line phone in their accommodation. Internet can be accessed in the internet cafes and wi-fi spots in the city, also some volunteer flats have internet access at individual basis. Depending on the district of the city where volunteer will live he/she can reach the center by foot or by public transportation. Volunteer(s) will receive pocket money, food and local transportation allowances from organisation's "contact point for EVS" - ADVIT Moldova.
Normally volunteer(s) is/are picked up by the mentor(s) and is brought to the place of the accommodation. For better adaptation ADVIT provides volunteer(s) with on-arrival orientation, volunteer(s) receive map of the city, dictionary, intensive language course and are enrolled to on-arrival training. ADVIT also arranges first meeting at the Center in order to get to know the Centre, staff, beneficiaries, activities also to discuss rights and responsibilities of the volunteer(s) and the schedule of volunteer's working week.
Volunteer can have lunch outside the centre, or bring her/his own food and use the centre's kitchen. The activities take place in the centre and outside the centre in the play yard in warm time. Also volunteer can assist in excursions and fieldtrips. Volunteer can also work in the Shelter for asylum seekers that is also coordinated by CCR. Volunteer works 7 hours per day, having daily shifts hours.
At the Center volunteer(s) will be supported by his/her supervisor, who will help him/her to find his/her place in the organisation, supervisor is the person that will answer all the questions that a volunteer will have. Volunteer stays in touch with all the staff members, that help him/her in realization of activities. Volunteer will have his/her own work space, provided with computer connected to Internet and all the necessary office facilities.
