Resumo: Yellow Shirts Association was established in April 2010 in Baia Mare, Romania by young volunteers with the aim to facilitate the sustainability and integration of youth in the society. Our objectives are to promote the active citizenship, solidarity, tolerance and cultural diversity, to promote the cooperation at local, regional, national and international level as well as to involve youth as much as possible in different educational environments.
In order to achieve our objectives we organize, implement and participate in training courses, youth exchanges, street events, summer camps, voluntary services, Do It Yourself workshops, informative campaigns, sport competitions, foreign languages courses, study visits, debates, seminars, work camps, social meetings, conference, exhibitions or any other similar events. These activities have topics from different domains such as art, culture, sport, environment, human rights, active citizenship, health, etc. Nonetheless, we are offering full support to our volunteers through counselling, guidance, personal and professional development opportunities.
Our association is aiming to develop itself further by getting involved more in the youth programmes offered by the European Commission. In order to get to the next level of experiences inside the youth field, we are ready to continue our international work with bringing foreign volunteers to our association. So far we have been working with volunteers at the local level, by recruiting and getting involved in our events young people from the community where we activate in. We are interested in bringing international volunteers, not only for spreading our culture and traditions, but also for learning more about other cultures and others’ experiences. Nevertheless, we are interested in providing more activities for our young people inside our community and trying to get them actively involved in the daily life or our society.
We believe that a foreign volunteer can be an important “instrument” to show to our community’s youngsters that with a positive attitude and eagerness to get involved you can create a lot of ways to use your free time in a useful way. Therefore, the hosted volunteers will also motivate the young people to get involved in such activities, will exchange ideas about the way things are going in their home country comparing to Romania or even to teach our youngsters and accompany them in their development process.
Nevertheless we want to increase our operational capacity inside the association by preparing our members and volunteers in the youth field, thus providing further qualitative projects.
The organization is managed by young people, these being able to understand easier the problems with which the youngsters of their age are confronting with. Currently we are 10 members that are active in the organization, with a number of over 20 volunteers involved in diverse actions when needed.
