Resumo: What is Etudes et Chantiers ? Etudes et Chantiers is a non-profit organization which develops environmental and heritage conservation projects. Since the 1960’s, we organize summer camps in Brittany to involve people from foreign countries and give them the opportunity to meet, to be useful, to discover our region, to help the preservation of our heritage and the peace between communities! Since the 80’s we develop social inclusion works, but we are still organizing volunteer camps!

What is this project for? As always, we think that to develop tolerance between people, the best way is to meet each other. With this project we intend to make young people from foreign countries to meet each other and to meet locals. This project will give the opportunity to young people to propose and develop their own ideas, it shall give them confidence. We use heritage as a medium because it allows to create bridges between cultures, and to develop the sense of community and European citizenship.

Perfil: When? Who? Where? This project will involve 28 volunteers aged between 18 and 30, and from 7 countries: Estonia, Croatia, Spain, Poland, Italy, Portugal, Romania, Germany and France. There will be two teams who will meet three times in Rennes, and they will split to move to different villages. The volunteers will arrive in Rennes on July 2nd and leave on August 31th.
Age: 18-30

Tarefas: The team of volunteers will be supervised by a professional technical leader on all supports which involved specific skills. The volunteers will work from Monday to Friday, around 30 hours a week. Depending of the opportunities, a time will be spared to discover the region. The volunteers will have days off between the activities.
A. Built heritage technical works
1. Châteaugiron, Ille-et-Vilaine
Date : July – 3 weeks
Accomodation : Municipal campsite of Châteaugiron (individual tents) or dormitory in a house
Activities : Repointing of an old wall close to the castle of Châteaugiron. Masonry work using lime.
2. Saint-Thégonnec, Finistère
Date : August – 3 weeks
Accomodation : Individual tents or dormitory in a house.
Activities : Renovation of the Sainte Brigitte chapel and the Kandi du Fers (linen wash house) .
