Perfil: Criteria for the work in the area of the youth club are: openness, sense of responsibility, enjoying the work with children and youth as well as present social engagement in the home country.

Experiences in the work with children as well a basic knowledge of German language is very helpful. It would be very welcome if the applicant played a musical instrument. Gender, nationality, religion and graduations or school reports don't play any role.

Tarefas: Leisure time activities that are arranged by the youth club "Track 3" are oriented at the interests and needs of children and youth. The main tasks of European Volunteers will be the communication with the children and youngsters and the organisation and facilitation of leisure time activities.

Being in contact with children and youth the volunteers may learn German language and culture. They get acquainted with the mentality and all day life of children and youth in Germany. These youngsters and the professional youth worker openly welcome the volunteers. Volunteers will be part of the team and participate in team meetings and trainings of the project; they also take part in the days of culture and encounters that are organised by the coordinating organisation "Association for Youth Welfare Services and Social Work". In the beginning the volunteers are being introduced into the field of youth work; they will be acquainted with already existing activities like the theatre workshop, games competitions (for children younger than 13 years of age) and trained to support such activities.

During their voluntary service the volunteers may learn:
- how to deal with children and youth
to work autonomously and self-dependent
assertiveness
living together with volunteers from other cultures

They will get some insight into the organisation and administration of projects for children and youth. The volunteers will gain social and cultural competences. With support by their tutor the volunteers will learn, how to plan and implement own projects. Being aware of the professional educational work in the youth club the volunteers have the opportunity to reflect on their own pedagogical acting and ideas.

The presence of European Volunteers with their different cultural backgrounds always give the opportunity to question existing conceptions and expectations of the children and youth and the volunteers them self.

The organisation and implementation of own projects of the volunteers has high priority, which will be supported by the professional youth worker.
From time to time the volunteers will help the association for youth services "Chance" in Müncheberg to organise special activites like kayaking, cultural events for youth, excursions or activities in schools.

Horário: Working hours are usually from Tuesday to Saturday, 2 - 8 p.m.; Sunday and Monday are free days. From time to time volunteers will be asked to work at weekends, if excursions and holiday camps are planned; they will have additional free days as compensation by agreement with their tutor.

A working day of the volunteers may look like this e.g.:
2 p.m. opening the club, welcoming children and youth
3 p.m. project work, e.g. cooking or games with children (younger than 13), theatre workshop with youth (13 and older), basket ball, community work, thematical discussions, billard, table tennis etc.
6 p.m. leisure time activities, serving non-alcoholic drinks and snacks
7 p.m. tidening the club

Condições: Volunteers always have - whether in the working place (tutor) or in the supporting organisation (coordinator/mentor) - a person they can rely on in any cases of difficulties. They live together in a community and can support each other. In the beginning they will get instructions that include security questions and how to deal with difficult situations; and they get a folder with written information and rules of behaviour, emergency phone numbers, a volunteers ID with address and phone numbers of the supporting organisation, insurance card, etc.

During the introduction into the working place they will be informed about possibly dangerous situations and how to deal with them. Working with children the volunteers will always be under supervision and together with professional staff.
