Volunteer can be interested in work with children and youth with special needs and want to familiarize with modern methods of special pedagogy, psychology, physiotherapy.

The information about vacant EVS places SFERA published on EVSWORKS web-site, the web-site of SFERA, through informing partner organizations (more than 150 organizations all around Europe: Service Civil International (SCI) and Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organizations).

All the candidates will be presented to the hosting organization and the selection of a volunteer will be made on the following criteria:
- motivation to work with disabled youth;
- readiness to work hard, because it's not so easy to work in the different conditions, with international team, with other educational system and in the other language;
- readiness to learn Russian and to communicate in Russian;
- readiness to promote his/her national culture.

Type of the Sending Organization could be any. We would prefer to have volunteer, strongly supported not only by us and SFERA, but also by Sending Organization.

rganization of Disabled Children "Konkort" has opportunity to host young people who have fewer opportunities (young people who may have a lower level of education, have health issues, and come from socially or economically disadvantaged or ethnic minority backgrounds or simply lack the confidence and/or maturity to spend a year abroad with minimal support). We attempt to match those with greater support needs to those with more confidence, in order to engineer additional peer support for the volunteers.

We are permanently dealing with youngsters with fewer opportunities. So we can say that we have a lot of experiences in work with those youngsters. We also have the opportunity to consult youth workers from several centres which work with children and youth with fewer opportunities in Nizhniy Novgorod, so we are able to support EVS volunteers with some problems.

Our organization is not able to host a volunteer in wheeling chair.

Mentor is motivated Russian volunteer with some knowledge about Russian culture, history, city, local community. Mentor is responsible for support for private life of volunteer; s/he will help volunteer to be involved in local life (invite volunteer to local events, show good places in the city, show volunteer parts of Russian culture). Mentor cares about feelings, mood of volunteer. Mentor helps volunteer in the daily live (explain public transport, communication, bank system, show shops, hospitals, help with volunteers flat). Mentor could be involved in the project life of volunteer (show the place of the hosting organisation, help with translation, help to solve problems and conflicts between volunteer and hosting organisation, help and motivate to work). And of course, mentor will support the volunteer during his/her learning process and create Youthpass certificate together at the end of the project.

Tarefas: From the moment of arriving to Russia the volunteers will have a chance to discover Russian culture and mentality, and during project's work they will try to work in "Russian" style and conditions, so they will have a chance to try awareness of other cultures in their daily life.

The volunteers will benefit from the contact to disabled people which nowadays are a pretty unique opportunity to get a deeper insight in the society and its mechanisms of exclusion and inclusion. The youngsters are lovely people and the volunteers will certainly enjoy the service making a lot of friends. There is a lot of space for volunteers´ creativity and new ideas. The volunteers can always choose those activities and workshops they are interested in. It is possible for the EVS volunteers to organize own mini projects fitting youth´ interests and knowledge.

The volunteers will be regularly involved in evaluation meetings with mentor and coordinator. They will discuss learning process of the volunteer, help him/her to realize what s/he learnt and support his/her future learning. At the end of EVS project the volunteers together with mentor and coordinator will create Youthpass certificate for the volunteer and describe all the competences, which were touched during the time in Russia.

The general aim of the activities is social rehabilitation and social inclusion of disabled children and young people visiting "Konkort" working with such group of youth. Nowadays a lot of young people with physical and mental disability are completely isolated from the community and have contacts only with their parents and social servants, as well as they can't provide themselves with even elementary domestic needs. The projects target on individual supervising of young disabled by EVS volunteer and training of basic social skills as well as mental development activities in this process. The second line of volunteer's activity is organizing of group meetings and making workshops for disabled youth and children depending on skills and interests of volunteer (it can be musical, art of handcraft workshops).

In the frame of the project the volunteer can help with creation of a project of cooperation between NGOs working with disabled youth in Nizhniy Novgorod and in European countries for opening new opportunities for experience exchange between organizations and for children's and youth communication with coevals from different countries.

Possible options can be the following:
Teaching: The volunteer will lead a workshop (development group) for mentally retarded youth, doing handicrafts as little toys, drawing, painting, knitting, pottery etc. in Montessori conception. As another option the volunteer can lead English conversation club or play games in English with youth.
