Perfil: All the candidates will be selected through the NNVS's and SFERA's selection process for participation on the project. The selection process involves a written CV, motivation letter and possibly of an interview. All received applications will be considered.

Volunteer candidate has to be, first of all, interested in making social service in Russia and has to be ready to face a difficult social adaptation in the country with very big cultural difficulties. The volunteer has to be ready to learn how to work with wide audience and how to find contact with young people and children with different background (invalids, orphans, broken families, and poor families).

All the candidatures are discussed and selected on the following criteria:
- motivation to work with youth, children, adults and old people;
- readiness to work hard, because it's not so easy to work in the different conditions, with international - team, with other educational system and in the other language;
- readiness to learn Russian and to communicate in Russian;
- readiness to promote his\her own national culture.

The most important criteria is strong motivation to do voluntary service and learn a lot from the project!

NNVS and SFERA are very experienced organizations in hosting EVS volunteers and always divide staff work and work of volunteers. EVS volunteers always realize only project activities, and if they still have a motivation to do more they have a possibility to lead their own mini-project, like workshops for orphans or individual caring on child, so this is additional service for local children or youth.

Type of the Sending Organization could be any. We would prefer to have volunteer, strongly supported not only by us and SFERA, but also by Sending Organization.

Tarefas: During the activity the volunteers will practice, first of all, living in the unusual conditions (in other country) and will develop their skills in social integration and independent life. Moreover tolerance to people from different countries and with different background will be developed because of the communication of the volunteers with Russian volunteers as well as because of staying on the same city and flat with other EVS volunteers from other countries and communication with them. Because of work together with Russian volunteers EVS volunteers will develop their skills of work in international team. From the introductory training and following project activities the volunteer will take knowledge and skills about project planning and management (related with the life planning at all), crisis management, team spirit building and other skills which can be very useful in the further life. From the project the volunteer will be able to research Russian working system, working methods for social integration and specifics of Russian mentality. So if the future career of the volunteers will be related with Russia, they will be already experienced in such topics and, as the result, well-qualified after getting the higher education.

The coordinator and mentor will follow the learning process of the volunteers and assist and help the volunteers in their self-assessment process. The mentor will help with social integration and adaptation of the volunteers, and will follow the level of progress in Russian language. At the end of the project they will create Youthpass certificate together. The coordinator and the mentor together will help the volunteers to realise their voluntary activities providing them with necessary information, advices and technical support if such kind of help will be asked from the volunteer's side.

The projects are realised on the base of Nizhniy Novgorod Voluntary Service and aim at the development of voluntary movement in school, universities, and commercial organizations. Also the development of Time Bank program, which addresses help of one person to the other with following opportunities to get the service from other people as well.
Meeting with foreign volunteers will help members of NNVS to find new interesting ideas, to increase motivation for realization of different programmes and events. With help of the EVS volunteers more people will manage to get the facilities which they need but can't obtain without support. The volunteers will organize different meetings, trainings, promotion actions.

Volunteers will have a chance to organize activities for staff of NNVS, explaining them about the experience of work with participants at the same organizations all around the Europe (if they would like and have capacity). Optionally the volunteers will have an opportunity to organize and lead their own mini-project which can take place on the base of any EVS hosting organisation supported by SFERA in Nizhniy Novgorod.

Possible tasks for the volunteers are divided in 4 groups:
1. Support and help with Time Bank program. The idea of Time Bank is exchange of help between people in the city. For example, if you walk with the dog of the old lady during 3 hours you can ask about 3 hours of English classes from the Time Bank. The approx tasks of the volunteers are: making presentations of the Time Bank for the local community in Universities, different organizations especially in non-profit-making ones and in the centre of employment of the population; working with computer database of participants, individual supervising of people during their first service; administrative and creative help to Time Bank staff during seminars, events, conferences; telephone consulting and interviewing of new clients of the Time Bank.

* It is just an example of week. Concrete plan of work will be discussed together with volunteer depending on his\her interests and specific of work. Volunteer can be asked to work on Saturday and be given second weekend on Monday.

Condições: EVS volunteers will live in flats with other volunteers or in families. They will have to share domestic facilities with 2-5 other volunteers or family members. Each volunteer will have separated room, because it is important to have privacy for the volunteers. Volunteers will be provided with necessary kitchen equipment and bed-linen. Nizhniy Novgorod is a very big city, so the way from home to the city centre can take 1-1,5 hours (like in any big city).

Volunteers can use Internet at the office of SFERA 2-3 hours a week, and they can make telephone calls to home 5 minutes a week (of course, if they have SKYPE, they can take more time). Some volunteer's flats also provided with internet connection.

SPECIAL NEEDS
Voluntary Service of Nizhniy Novgorod has opportunity to host young people who have fewer opportunities (young people who may have a lower level of education, have health issues, come from socially or economically disadvantaged or ethnic minority backgrounds or simply lack the confidence and/or maturity to spend a year abroad with minimal support). We attempt to match those with greater support needs to those with more confidence, in order to engineer additional peer support for the volunteers.

Mentor is motivated Russian volunteer with some knowledge about Russian culture, history, city, local community. Mentor is responsible for support for private life of volunteer; s/he will help volunteer to be involved in local life (invite volunteer to local events, show good places in the city, show volunteer parts of Russian culture). Mentor also cares about feelings, mood of volunteer. Besides, mentor helps volunteer in the daily live (explain public transport, communication, bank system, show shops, hospitals, help with volunteers flat). Mentor could be involved in the project life of volunteer (show the place of the hosting organisation, help with translation, help to solve problems and conflicts between volunteer and hosting organisation, help and motivate to work). One of the important responsibilities of mentors is following of learning process of the volunteers, the coaching for self-assessment and as result - making YOUTHPASS certificate together with other participants of the project. And in case of volunteers with fewer opportunities, role of mentor in the learning process is very important and mentors take big responsibility.

In case the volunteers need stronger support from specialists or doctors, NNVS can cooperate with other NGOs, working with disabled and people with fewer opportunities. They will be ready to help, to give advice, to give support to international volunteers.
