Resumo: The secondary school provides a free, non-religious education for about 1850 pupils aged between 11 and 20 years old. 140 boarders have a room at the boarding school from Monday to Friday.
Our educative project is to prepare each young people for their exams, but also to accompany them in line with their life and professional project, and the humanistic and republican values leading our mission.

The school has a strong policy of international opening and develops numerous projects, such as :
- European classes, with pupils who study some subjects (Biology, History) partly through English.
- exchanges with foreign high-schools in Wales, England, Germany, Nicaragua, Louisiana (USA)...
- Various projects concerning European citizenship, and cultural actions (European Youth Parliament, participation to festivals, creation of short-movies..)
- regular hosting of foreign pupils coming to the school to get a schooling experience in France (Brigitte Sauzay programme etc).
- Hosting of 4 language assistants.

The school offers some citizenship projects as well, for example :
- a partnership with a non-formal education association, to work around citizenship and intercultural meetings, through non formal education methods
- local partnerships with local artists
- projects connected with cinema, cinema festivals and cinema competitions
- projects connected with local radios
- projects connected with music

The role of the EVS would therefore be complementary and enriching, as the EVS volunteer will be able to take part in these projects, according to his skills and the on-going projects.

Perfil: The candidate should be motivated to take part in team work with a public of teenagers (11-18 years old). The ideal candidate will be dynamic and autonomous, and willing to learn leading groups of teenagers. Some basic skills in French would be appreciated. Speaking one of the other languages taught in the school : (English, German or Spanish) would be an advantage to communicate with the students.

Tarefas: During his service, the volunteer will discover the French school system, develop his cultural opening and his knowledge of Europe, learn to be a group leader (and especially with teenagers), and to work in a team. The volunteer will have numerous opportunities to develop professional skills such as project management, communication in different languages, use of new technologies, …

The volunteer, in close contact with the whole educative community of the school (teachers and youth leaders) will be a first hand testimony of his/her own culture, will offer to participate in some classes as an example of his own culture (for example, according to the volunteer's skills : Christmas in his own country, proposition of video workshop, discovering of a new language, speaking about experiences abroad... ) and will participate in many activities and projects. These activities will be in relation with the European opening of the school (one of our educative project priorities).
The volunteer will also be able to develop his own personal project through extra-curricular activities, according to his personal tastes and skills.
In his daily tasks, the volunteer’s status (rules, rights and position towards the pupils) will be the same as the school staff, but the volunteer will never be alone to bear responsibility for an action.

His missions will be :
• Activities connected with the international opening of the school:
- he will propose some activities connected with Europe during the pupils’ free-time (lunch time, evenings at the boarding-school)
- he will be part in the organisation of the International Week at school.
- he will take part in the preparation of special events like the “European days" and other collective projects with the other volunteers hosted in organisations of Redon,
- he will help the teachers to prepare the exchanges with foreign countries, and the host programmes of the foreign pupils’ groups coming to the school. According to the project, he will also have the opportunity to chaperone the students abroad together with the teachers.
• Non formal activities in the school and the boarding-school :
- the volunteer will help to organize exhibitions or special events like « the students forum »,« school open day », ...
- he will support the communication of the school (pictures of the main events, realisation of information boards for the pupils, reports, writing in the school magazine..)
- he will take part in cultural or sports projects, and in activities outside the school together with the pupils
- he will organize activities for the boarders (ex : video or theatre workshop, cooking, sporting activities...)

• Different activities in relation with the tastes and the skills of the volunteer :
- The volunteer will be free to suggest or participate in other extra-curricular activities like photo club, Drama club, …

To sum up, on a weekly basis, the volunteer will take part :
- at the "lycée" (highschool - 15-18 years old) : in video workshops, in the "Louisiana project", in the support of literature and society projects : 20% of the time)
- at the professional school : according to the skills of the volunteer : participation to the wood workshop, to the cooking workshop (for instance to present typical recipes from his country) : 15%
- at the "collège" (Secondary school - 11-14 years old) : presentation of his home country in the different lectures according to the teachers, support to the pupils with new technologies (for instance : preparing presentations or slide shows) : 15%
- different projects according to the events of the school (see above) : 30%
- french classes, collective project with the other volunteers of Redon : 20%

The volunteer will organize his missions from Monday to Friday. He will get the school holidays off, like all teachers (end of October, Christmas, February, April). The typical timetable of the volunteer will vary from one week to the other, but will always be in relation with the pupils’ or boarding school’s timetable.During his service, the volunteer will discover the French school system, developp their cultural opening and their knowledge of Europe, learn to be a group leader, and especially a group of teenagers, to work as one of a team. Depending on their tastes and expectations, the volunteer will have the possibility to attend various classes, either to strengthen their knowledge of the subjects or discover the teaching profession.
