Resumo: Main mission of the organization is to provide humanitarian relief to those suffering from natural disasters and armed conflicts, to support development of communities living in poverty and vibrant civil society around the world and to support social inclusion of marginalized Roma communities in Slovakia. Part of our work located in Slovakia is aimed at providing social services and educational activities for children and youth in Community Centres, located in villages with Romani settlements in Eastern Slovakia. European Voluntary Service represents for us an opportunity to show to the target group that there exists another world with possibilities available also for them and to open this isolated communities to an outside world.

Perfil: volunteers motivated to work with children and youngsters mostly from Roma communities in our community centers all around Slovakia
Age: 18-30

Tarefas: The volunteers will take part in the project will work in our community centers in challenging but very enriching environment of socially-disadvantaged Roma communities.

Activities of the community centres are indoor or outdoor activities. For sport activities we also use exterior areas. The main task of the volunteer would be to actively participate in, and possibly plan, the activities realized by the centre. The volunteer would always work with a professional from the community centre, or a social worker of the centre.
Activities in the pre-school club are activities with the group of little children, which have the main goal to prepare them for the pre-school as formal education.
Extra activities are considered to be an inseparable part of the Centre´s program. They include mainly trips, talks, meetings with guests, etc. The volunteer would plan and realize extra activities with the whole community centre team.

Educational activities include tutoring, depending on the needs of individuals, with assistance of a professional. The volunteer´s task would be help with homework (writing, reading), work with methodic educational equipment (cards with syllables, word creation). Concerning older children, it would be direct help with tasks that are discussed at school, whether it´s math or foreign language. The volunteer´s task would be independent leading of this activities, creative planning of the program and tasks for the participants.

Free-time activities involve active courses – sports, dance, singing, musical Instruments, educational courses – PC, foreign language, and skills courses. The volunteer´s task would be to lead the courses individually or with the help of a special worker of the centre, according to the ones choice and abilities.
