Tarefas: This project was designed to deliver civic education among children. Topics of tolerance, gender equality, human rights and solidarity are especially important for children in a post war community like Petrinja. Activities planned to meet the objectives:
Making puppets, writing scripts and preparing puppet shows and workshops; In our puppet studio volunteers will be in charge of designing and sewing interesting and educative puppets, writing educational scenarios that are adjusted for the age of children, with clear morals of the story. The workshops will be led by EVS volunteers who are always interesting to children and they want to learn more about them and their culture, which is a great way to start a discussion about multiculturality.
Conducting workshops and puppet shows for children; Once the volunteers prepare their activities for children they implement them in kindergartens, schools and other public institutions. They will learn the methodology for working effectively with children and using puppets to tell stories and facilitate civic education through stories and workshops. Contact with children from the community is the most important part of the project, it gives new knowledge to children and opportunity for volunteers to practice their skills gained during EVS service. Learning how to be more tolerant and solidary automatically makes children more open and not prone to stereotypes later on, volunteers included in activity have more confidence to design and lead new ideas.
