Just by being an EVS volunteer you promote an active European citizenship. The volunteers are living examples on what EU can offer young people today. The EVS volunteers show other youths that it is possible to go abroad and get new experiences in life. By being active the possibilities for a lighter future occurs. As a part of the integration and labour department and in cooperation with the local Europa Direct office the EVS-volunteers will have several possibilities during their EVS- period to go to schools/exhibitions and talk about their experience as EVS-volunteers as well as to promote Erasmus+.
Perfil: Age: 18-30
Tarefas: In the beginning of the project we present the different tasks for the volunteer and then make up a schedule for him/her according to skills and interests. We have ongoing meetings with the volunteer to evaluate the project so that they get as much out of the voluntary period as possible and also so that we get feedback on what can be done better. If the volunteer wants to do some different tasks, there is always the possibility to talk to us. The skills and the motivation of each volunteer have been different so it is difficult to say the exact tasks and way of working beforehand. At the end of the period we will have a final evaluation meeting to get to know the volunteers overall impression of the project.
The most important role of the volunteer is to inform the youngsters from our area about the different possibilities of going abroad in Europe through studies, work, internship, voluntary service, participating in youth exchanges, etc. We often give lectures about these topics at schools so the volunteer will support us in that and also tell the youngsters about their own experiences. The volunteer will assist with contacting youngsters that got in touch with us through our homepage, Eurodesk and will hand out information on different possibilities that EU offers to youngsters to go abroad. The volunteer will also join the office to primary schools where we play EU-related games
with the kids. The volunteer can speak English with the kids and teach them some words and songs in their own language for children. The volunteer can also help us come up with new games and exercises for the students.
The volunteer will support individuals and groups of youngsters in informing them about EVS, show them how to find a partner organisation, how to apply for a project and prepare them for it. The staff at the Europe Direct office informs about all the EU-programs but has very little time to support the youngsters in writing applications. With the help from the staff at the office the volunteer will support the youngsters in fulfilling their own ideas and dreams.
