Perfil: VCV is looking for someone who is particularly interested in environmental issues and who has a strong desire for peace. If you are 18 – 30, have been active in these areas and have 12 months free, ELSA would love to hear from you.
The ideal candidate is: • 18 - 30 • a UK / EU citizen (or someone legally resident in the UK) • able to volunteer for 10 - 12 months (1/10/11 – 30/9/12) • genuinely interested in the environment and a sustainable and simple lifestyle • an advocate for peace and wants to help promote it • an active person, willing to work outdoors, willing to make a difference • preferably able to speak another language – a Slavic one would be useful:-)
Tarefas: The position is coordinator of a Youth Club at VCV. You will run workshops on your area of speciality e.g. environmental issues, peace campaigns, cultural issues, language lessons. There will also be opportunity to travel around the region visiting the rural areas and small towns as VCV have a developed network of local partners. VCV organises youth trainings and environmental work camps as well as international events – mainly within the SCI network. VCV expects to run several activities and programmes during the 12 months Service Period. Volunteers are expected to help with the promotion and marketing of these programmes to young people. Volunteers will also have some admin tasks such as dealing with correspondence, communicating with VCV partners, managing applications for programmes or work camps. During spring the exchange season starts so there will be visits to local partners and environmental work camp preparations. In addition, environmental projects are planned for October and November 2011. Your active participation is expected. VCV also has local volunteers and so runs various language and skills workshops for them. During your 12 months Service you will be encouraged to develop your own projects or lead your own workshops for local youth. For example, you could run something about your own culture, you could teach a language, you could start up some environmental or peace project. There are no limits to what you would be able to do. The point of European Voluntary Service (EVS) is to allow young people the chance to volunteer abroad but also it aims to give you the opportunity to develop new skills, to take on responsibility for organising projects, to allow you to experience and interact with a different culture and at the same time share your own.
