Resumo: Depaul UK offers people who are homeless and disadvantaged the opportunity to fulfill their potential and move towards an independent and positive future. We do this by delivering a range of accommodation projects for young people who are homeless across the UK whilst also providing resettlement, pre-employment and progression activities as well as other support services for those we work with.
The Depaul Programmes Team is made up of staff and volunteers based in our four strategic regions (London, North West, South Yorkshire and North East of England). The Programmes Team is responsible for providing young people who access Depaul services with an exciting programme of activities called Get Up & Go to support their personal development.
Perfil: • Good English written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
• Experience of working as part of a team and independently
• Ability to follow instruction and routines but also able to be flexible and adapt quickly to changes.
• Some experience in facilitating groups of young people who may be considered vulnerable.
• Good organisational skills.
• A non judgemental and supportive approach and belief in the potential of others.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Age: 18-30
Tarefas: Get Up & Go tasks
• Actively promote and advertise Get Up & Go activities and events to staff, young people and volunteers face-to-face and through posters, flyers, phone calls and text messages.
• Help to introduce new young people to Get Up & Go, making them aware of the Get Up & Go rules and other essential information.
• Work alongside the Programmes Team to deliver Get Up and Go and support young people to attend activities and sessions. This may involve planning, supporting and leading activities. Example activities include: one-off events, cooking, out & about activities, physical activities, creative activities and others.
• Assist with mentoring and supporting young people to achieve their goals. This could include: filling out forms; supporting young people to attend appointments or an activity; helping them cook a meal and supporting them to access other relevant activities and services.
General tasks
• Adhere to the terms of Depaul UK’s policies, procedures and its code of practice.
• Take the initiative to clean as and when required.
• Take part in team meetings as well as house meetings for young people.
• Promote and support the active involvement of young people in the development of the service.
• Assist project staff with house checks, preparing rooms for new residents and other tasks. This may involve cleaning and sometimes decorating.
• Attend training as directed by your supervisor
• Attend regular supervision with your line manager;
• Attend regular support sessions with your mentor.
Administrative tasks
• General office admin such as data entry, record-keeping, photocopying and answering the phone.
• Ensure that equipment and stock levels are sufficient and ready for use.
• Greet and sign in all young people/guests.
• Carry out internet searches and collate information.
This list is not exhaustive and there may be other appropriate duties that are delegated by the staff tea
Horário: • EVS volunteers are required to fulfil 35 hours per week volunteering. This includes attending related training, events, and supervision.
• Volunteers can spend up to 5 hours language training per week. This is included in the 35 hours.
• EVS have 2 days off per week and will accumulate 2 days off per month which they can save up if they like. They should not save up all their holidays until the end of their project date.
• Volunteers will work on a rota basis and this might include weekends.
