Resumo: We are engaged in the EU-Youth Programme since 1999, because we want young people to go out of their own country and their own point of view.
They can visit us and participate in our work for conservation, protection and development of natural landscape within their specific plants and animals. So they get a new view of the different types of the landscape in our region with their specifichabitat for wild living rare and endangered animals and plants. And we hope that they enable to compare with a sharpened eye the types of landscape in their own country. As we carry out our activities mostly in the area of the Natura 2000 programme of the European Union we will direct their attention also to the Natura 2000 regions in their country. So the volunteers get knowledge of the significance of the ecological future of Europe.

Perfil: Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The tasks for the volunteer can and may be very different and depend on their specific skills. Normally the volunteer gets the first general view of the activities and then we decide together what they will do. Nearly most of the time the volunteer will work together with other people.

The main activities will be done in the project Manual activities concerning the conservation and development of the natural landscape. This work will be done in a group of young people. The tasks are different depending on the season. In summer there is e. g. helping to cut the grassland, repairing fences, - in autumn there is gathering apples to make natural apple juice, in autumn and winter there is to eliminate bushy trees out of the moors, in spring there is to work at the fruit-trees and preparing the grassland. All the year long there is helping at the herd of sheep. The volunteer has to be conscious, that this work is carried out outside in the landscape and it is physically strenuously.

Some tasks can be done in our project Environment Education. The volunteer can help to organize and carry out periodically meeting groups of children and young people for environment activities and environment education. This can be done in one afternoon in the week and in summer we realize a nature camp for ten days for about 30 children at the age from 9 to 12 years.

The basic is the manual work in the landscape. Further there are many possibilities and choices. They depend on the personal interests and specific skills of the volunteer. This will change during the stay with respect to the season and the increase of personal competence.
An example for the timetable of a normal week: normal 3 days working in the landscape (7.00 am – 15.45 pm )
• Friday afternoon meeting with children groups
• language course (may be in the evening)
• sometimes there will be work at the weekend
• the volunteer can work more during one week (or some weeks), so that in other weeks he can do less.
