Resumo: Aim of the project is to strengthen the competence volunteer through non-formal education so that he/she can later apply in his/her country. Special focus will be taken on competencies for improving sense of initiative, active participation in society and in particular increase the motivation to participate in next formal and non-formal education and training as a prerequisite to the assert himself/herself in a changing society.

Because of limitation of public services and the people property it has become a kind of laboratory of dying than ever viable village following the young people departure. While in the case of our organization is the result of external intervention of state power, many villages across the EU are facing a natural depopulation and the rural exodus to the cities. Empty seat, the coming of the indigenous people, are changing the suburban recreational areas, or worse, disappear completely. In this village thanks to many years of activity descendants of local people and the the Association reversed some of that trends - even using the work of volunteers, including those from abroad. Therefore, it is an inspiring place for informal learning and education.

We are already hosting a Portuguese volunteer.

Perfil: Age: 17-30

Tarefas: The project will be implemented in two villages in central Slovakia. Volunteers will help with the establishment of permaculture vegetable garden in Slatinka village and care of the old original historic fruit trees, which grow in the valley many decades. They learn to set up and manage community gardens and edible school gardens (in town or village), which in the future will be necessary to ensure food self sustainability of local communities and today can significantly help the local economy.

The second area of activity is sustainable using of water for power generation and related issues of renewable energy sources. Volunteers become familiar with various impacts to the environment and local communities, processed comparative study of the situation in different EU countries and engage in a campaign to Slovak alive rivers. They will participate in environmental education for school children; will co-organize activities for the public to promote environmentally friendly way of life in city of Zvolen. Both volunteers will work with young people, indigenous peoples and their descendants, as well as volunteers from Slovakia and abroad.

The project will strength the competencies of EVS project participants, which will be able to use in their home country. It can help them improve their job perspectives; they will have more confidence and will be more self-sufficient so that they can be better actively involved in life of community where they have their jobs and personal lives. The result of the project will be the specific physical changes in the village of Slatinka, which will have a visible positive impact on the local community in Slatinka village.
