Resumo: On the outskirts of the organization there is a Roma settlement . The municipality started to work in this area by building a community centre and social housing. Since 2012 an EVS programme for young people was iniciated and EVS volunteers had been joining the staff and social workers in common effort to help especially the children and youth from this deprived area.
Volunteering takes a whole person commitment. It is a personal challenge to come and share your life with completely different culture.

Perfil: - ability to work on own initiative, independently but also as part of team
- ability to cope with living in a small town area, be open minded to work and live in challenging environment (socially, culturally..)
- previous experience of working with children and youth welcome - basic knowledge of English or Slovak for daily communication
- Age: 17-30

Tarefas: ROMA CENTRE (daily mornings and afternoons): prepare, assist and create own various actvities with children aged 3-5, 6-11 and teenagers in Roma community centre: singing, arts&crafts, playing games and sports, help with homework, assist with hygiene, talk to, play and accompany kids

ACTIVITIES: Language café (twice a month in evening, 3 hours) and other activities according to current offer(e.g. English club for teenagers once a week, sport club once a week, etc.)

SLOVAK LANGUAGE LESSONS for volunteers (minimum once a week, not provided during Summer months)

OWN MINI-PROJECT - own project or other actvites in local community can be developed during EVS depending on volunteer initiative and mutual agreement with local schools, other NGOs (5-10 hours a week, depending on volunteer initiative)

CULTURE CENTRE: help with local independent culture centre and its art café (1-2 afternoons/evenings) YOUTH HUB: volunteering development, organisational support, web updates, staff meetings, EVS monitoring (1-3 times a month)

SEASONAL ACTIVITIES: Summer camps for kids in town and local area, homeless meals provisions in Winter, National meetings and workshops This is only a selection of activities, each volunteer will be given a weekly plan with 30 - 35 working hours depending on available activities at the time.
