Resumo: The host organization is a Science Centre that aims to introduce science to everyone and encourage studying through the joy of discovery. We want to bring out the fun in science and make people „Think playfully” which is also slogan for Centre. We value education and our mission is to shape the knowledge-based mindset through aha-experiences. With the experiences we mean experimenting and discovering independently by using „hands-on“ approach. Orgnization’s main target groups are students and kindergartners, teachers and instructors, families, science enthusiasts, tourism groups, schools and other educational institutions, scientists and other institutions.
Perfil: We are seeking to host a friendly, talkative, open and patient person with a can-do attitude. Interest in science is a bonus, but more important is the capacity to learn and willingness to get better. Volunteer should be adaptable and be able to react accordingly in rapidly changing situations. Creative and enterprising spirit is favoured since we expect the volunteer’s initiative to carry out personal projects. Furthermore we wish that the volunteers are as enthusiastic to shear their culture with us as we are to discover it.
Age: 17-30
Tarefas: Mainly, the volunteer would be involved in AHHAA Science Centre as a guide and would be an important part of the vibrant team.
The volunteer would be helping the permanent staff carry out science based activities like the science theatre shows and workshops. That includes at first assisting with the experiments, but later carries out them by oneself.
The volunteer will also be involved in science camp for children which is important part in the organization agenda to promote science based education among children.
We want the volunteer to take a lot of initiative and create his/her own personal project with the help of the mentor. For example it could be new and fun workshops that can be presented to the public or carried out with the visitors. Devising a workshop includes searching and learning about the specific theme, practicing experiments and forming activities that the participants could do themselves.
Additionally, we want to get the volunteer involved in promotional activities of the Centre.
