Resumo: Our Organization are a centre for the rescue and rehabilitation of sick and injured wild animals, brought into the centre by local people or collected by the volunteers. Cured animals are replaced into nature. Every year it helps around 7000 birds and wild animals (predators, squirrels, deers, snakes,...) which are brought to the centre or collected by an animal rescue team. Generally, people who are familiar with us have already heard of us because of one or our rescue interventions that were covered in the media. But the Natuurhulpcentrum stands for much more than that. Day by day we also try to enhance environmental awareness by means of education or actions to the benefit of nature. For this end, we can always count on the support of our volunteers.
Perfil: Age: 17-30
Tarefas: The volunteer will be involved in the daily running of the centre. This means:
- assistance to medical care of fractures and wounds in intensive care and revalidation/rehabilitation departments (5%)
- feeding of all animals (45%)
- maintenance of accommodations and cleaning of cages (45%)
- assistance in organisation of activities for instance fundraising, organising events for visitors like open days, planting trees, walks... (5%)
- educative activities for visitors, schools,... (5%)
In all the activities the volunteer will be assisted and working with experienced staff and volunteers. The volunteer will be trained in specific methods for cleaning and caretaking.
In order that the tasks of the volunteers would be differentiated and as interesting as possible, the volunteer will have the possibility to do all the tasks that are done in the Wildlife Rescue Center, just like all the other volunteers. The percentages reflect the amount of time that is spent in the Wildlife Hospital at these tasks. All the people that are working there, except of the administration, are having the same distribution of tasks.
Horário: Work days last from 9 am till 5.30 pm. Weekend work is possible during busy periods. We also have evening shifts, so we might ask the volunteer to work in the evening too. Of course evening or weekend work will be compensated with free days during the week. We ask flexibility from the volunteer, but we are flexible too. Working hours can be discussed between the volunteer and the mentor.
