Resumo: The volunteers would be active in the youth centre and the daily open activities and the special activities of the season. The youth centre is located in the eastern parts of Mölndal and the visitors are mostly of Swedish ethnic origin. The atmosphere in the youth centre is very friendly. The centre has a dedicated group that works in the café to raise money to go skiing every spring (each group works about two semesters). The area is basically middle- to upper class. The teenagers are mostly open-minded, although a few of them have difficulties connecting to people of other cultures and socio-economic standards. A lot of these attitudes are believed to come from their home environment. We work hard to prevent the youths from developing racist ideas and attitudes. In the youth centre there is no room for such attitudes and discrimination. In the youth centre we have a fully equipped kitchen and we usually bring lunch / dinner from the home and eat together. For lunch we also eat in the nearby school and take the opportunity to socialize with the young people there.
Perfil: e will search for hosting EVS throughout our networks as well as IE database and Eurodesk. We will have a small committee for selecting EVS. There will be an international monthly newsletter for all interested parties in the network. We are interested in making partners with serious organisations.
Tarefas: "Themes for the volunteer to engage in; music activities in the youth centre, environment issues, gender issues, cultural activities, skateboard activities. Volunteers in the summer time will be engaged in the Djursjön Summer camp for kids and teenagers- wildlife activities such as canoeing, fishing, swimming, camp life, adventure pedagogic etc. A volunteer that comes to Grevedämmet youth centre will be able to engage in the daily youth work at the centre and will learn how to lead young people and learn to use team building activities, value practice exercises etc. For example the volunteer would be engaged in the ""Youth Centre Introduction"" for new students at the local school which means to introduce them to the youth centre and making value practice exercises. The ""Youth Centre Introduction"" goes on for a couple of weeks in August-September for all new seventh grade students.
The volunteer will be engaged in for example boy/girl group activities, or other group activities. The volunteer can also be leading music activities and excursions, helping out in different workshops at the centre such as handicraft, graffiti artwork, journalism- workshops etc. In preparing for the work in our youth centre we will work to find a special theme, task or project for the volunteer. For example to work with creative workshops in the centre, to work on a music project with a special group of interested teenagers, to work with youths who want to arrange different events etc.
