Arka Theatre was inspired by Jerzy Grotowski’s work. Not limited just to activities on an artistic level, Renata Jasinska – a founder and an artistic director, realises the idea of the theatre close to the viewer. Through her art she wants to teach a common language of tolerance and overcoming barriers.
Arka Theatre is a meeting place. Here actors meet with theatre lovers, enthusiasts of art and life, sensitive people, looking for artistic experiences. Here nonprofessionals meet with professionals, young people with adults, the able-bodied with the disabled. Diversity and human uniqueness is a treasure used in all its artistic projects. Authenticity and sincerity backed by a creative professionalism guarantee an artistic success.
Since 2003, the Arka Theatre has been operating under the supervision of the Association of Friends of the Arka Theatre. The Association is not limited only to activities on the level of art. Through the mediality of its activities, the Association tries to change the society's view on the nature of disability and human rights.
It also attempts at being a voice in intercultural dialogue. The acting is based on the oriental tradition - the experiences of Theatre No and Dance Butoh.
Since 2008, the Association of Friends of the Theatre Ark and the Marshal's Office has made Opportunity Forum. The idea of the Forum consists in professional and social rehabilitation of the disabled through the arts. Art therapy workshops are the following: theatre therapy, choreotherapy and music therapy."
